Overview of functions:

Automatic lap time recording
Thanks to precise GPS data, lap times can be automatically recorded.
You can select your desired track from over 200 predefined race tracks worldwide or simply create your own.

Recording of precise vehicle data
The Porsche Track Precision App is connected via the Porsche Communication Management system or a special app control unit with various control units and records accurate data from the vehicle sensors.

Recording of vital data
Heart rate is recorded via Apple Health if an Apple Watch is connected to the iPhone. The heart rate can be evaluated later in the analysis.

Live displays
Two live views are available while driving on a race track:
- Lap timer: Clear display of the lap time with real-time deviation to a reference lap recording as well as the predictive lap time
- Drive at your limits: Reduced display of your current and possible learned performance.

Video analysis
Use your smartphone while driving to record videos for subsequent analysis. To obtain an additional view point while driving, a second video can be added, for example, from another smartphone camera or action cam.
Videos are available to view on your smartphone directly after driving – enhanced with useful driving data to improve your performance.

Driving performance analysis
By connecting to the vehicle sensors, the app enables you to analyse additional driving data which can be compared with previous laps, allowing you to improve your driving performance, for example, in relation to the steering angle, braking pressure and the position of the accelerator pedal. Videos and driving data can also be exported to your PC for detailed analysis.

Sharing with other drivers
Share your driving experience with friends through social networking sites.

Support of the Apple watch and Healthkit to record and analyze your Heart Rate.

Terms of use:
Only use the Porsche Track Precision App on tracks that are closed to the public. Adapt your driving style to your personal ability and the prevailing conditions. As the driver, you bear sole responsibility for controlling your vehicle.
The full range of app functions is only available when you drive your vehicle on tracks closed to the public that are supported by the Porsche Track Precision App.
Secure your smartphone in a holder designed for this purpose. Park your vehicle safely before operating the application or viewing evaluations and analyses.
The accuracy of the displayed values, evaluations and analyses cannot be guaranteed as conditions can vary.
The use of GPS via smartphone can decrease the smartphone battery life if the phone is not connected to the vehicle charging connection.

Just doesn’t work

Fhrnkchchhd on

After many attempts I managed to record a few laps. However it didn’t record any videos. Another problem is that as soon as I press Analyze button it just crashes.

Unusable

Mr Stig on

This latest update has stopped it working completely, it used to work really well for me. I managed to record nothing on my last track day which really gets my back up. The app knows where it is in the world and has good satellite coverage but fails to activate / record when you cross the start/finish line. The firmware update button in the vehicle menu doesn’t work either. How can Porsche release a product that is clearly untested and useless? Not happy.

Great idea, little broken

Matt kidd on

Great idea - App is a little broken on MacOS. Would be great to be able to view captured content properly.

Absolute rubbish

GrahamellLeeds on

This app is truly awful. It’s now worse than it used to be - at least in past you could eventually get it to work most of the time. Now, it usually will not work at all and if you are lucky enough to think that it is working - because it is showing lap times on the screen, you then find that it hasn’t recorded any of the data. It’s worse than useless; because you waste time trying to get it to work, messing around and when you finally think you’ve cracked it let’s you down again. And the support is abysmal. Send an email via the contact section in the app and all that happens is after a few weeks you get an email saying they are looking into it. No help whatsoever. Come on Porsche, either fix this crappy app or just admit it is garbage and get rid of it. If it worked it would great so stop tantalising us. This app is still frustrating rubbish, and is made worse by useless support. If you email support, they eventually replied saying the case is being sent to Germany. Weeks go by and you get emails saying it’s being looked at. And then nothing. No help. No advice. Problem remains. Get you act together Porsche and get some decent support to help people with problems.

Still Virtually Unusable

nickname5433 on

I have an open case with UK support dating back to April this year. Many issues reported, screen grabs and screen recordings and no issues resolved and new issues resulting from subsequent updates. IOS 16 created new ones also. Really really poor support.

App not recording

NorfolkPork on

Suggests that all is well with screen display timing seen via CarPlay but nothing is recorded at end of session. App has also crashed multiple times. I’m not alone here as it’s doing exactly the same for friend on same trackday.

Frequent crashes on latest update

ChrisL___ on

Crashes when adding a video to a session, crashes when exporting data to any format other than proprietary. Essentially useless in its current state. Is there no QA at all before releasing an update? It’s regressed.

What a Joke!!!

martin 1234) on

I have just used the app on Silverstone. Half of videos are not working. Sometimes connects to the car sometimes not. Sometimes puts car inputs on the video sometimes not. This app has been out for few years And I would have hoped all sorted by now. But looks like Porsche IT boys are simply rubbish. Shame that Porsche can not sort it out. Great cars but It team needs to learn a lot

Ruined by latest update

Bridders999 on

Was a great app now ruined. Does not always record. Crashes (the app not the car) when you open certain functions. Real shame when the old one worked fine. Why can’t they leave it alone ?!

Keeps crashing

BruceGri on

The user interface is much nicer but the application keeps crashing and often takes 3 or more pressed to select some functions.
