PRESTO FAQ
Is PRESTO free?
Yes, PRESTO is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is PRESTO legit?
⚠️ The PRESTO app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
Here’s the user flow.
Called. Loading was taking too long.
Went to website. Had to login to find out there’s no way (at least no obvious way) to load online.
I go to iPhone app. Log in. Then load, enter in all credit card info. Then get option to hold up card to my iPhone. I select that. It doesn’t work.
Instead of then offering me the option to just checkout with the card I already inputted, it throws me back to the beginning.
Really bad experience, wastes my time.
Subpar
Having rode the NYC metro for years and going from tickets to ticketless, I was thrilled that the cards were tap. What was embarrassing is that you need to purchase a card and can’t use your preexisting credit card even on your phone. Furthermore the price for a card and the inability to share a card you’re going to use only a few times is a huge embarrassment and should be revised. The waste of money and resources is subpar and I would’ve thought TTC would do better, obviously this wasn’t the case.
Awful
Check balance doesn’t work on my iPhone
Physical card??????
What is wrong with you? Why can I not get a digital card and use my phone to tap to pay? You realize it’s 2023? Even Chicago has solved this and made it dead simple to pay and ride. Unbelievable. Wake up!
For Canadians only
If you don’t have a Canadian address you can’t use this app. Can’t even sign up.
Garbage!!!
Poorly designed and not well supported. Try to create an account and you need a code. Code expires in 10 minutes. Takes 15+ for it to arrive and then it won’t work. Presto is crap and they make you pay for the privilege of having a card 🤮
Digital Presto Card
This app would be more functional if it had the ability to add the Presto card into an iPhone wallet or Google wallet for users to tap their phones without the physical presto card.
Tourists do not waste your time
Cannot sign up without a Canadian home address
Inaccurate description - useless in Toronto
The Toronto Transit website states that Presto works with the city’s subway system. It does not. The app description says it works with the Toronto subway. It does not.
I was able to pay for the airport train with Presto, but a station agent had to explain to me that only paper Presto tickets work in the subway.
For how great of a city Toronto is, this ancient fare system for the transit network is surprisingly terrible.
Nightmare app
Impossible to login. Before you didn’t need to login, now you do. Before you had a username, now you have to use an email, but if you do that and try and reset your password it sends your old user name. No problem convert to an email they say. That doesn’t work. What an absolute travesty of an app. The point of this should be to make it easy to reload funds AS QUICKLY AND AS EASILY AS POSSIBLE. Give your heads a shake! I see people getting onto streetcars and arriving at destinations without paying because it takes that long to use this forsaken app.
