RingGo: Mobile Car Parking App

One of the worst apps I’ve ever downloaded. Registered over four time but never received the text security code to set up the account. Called the phone number which is all automated and it just kept asking for my vehicle registration number over and over. A complete waste of thirty minutes so I left the parking lot and parked somewhere else. Now I know why all the spaces were empty. They want you to park at the lot without registering so they can fine you over 100pounds. It’s a scam.

If you’re a tourist trying to use a non-UK number you’ll get nowhere.

As part of registration, it needs to text a code but does except phone numbers outside the UK. Super annoying as a tourist who had to waste data downloading it to not have it work. The help number didn’t work either. 😡

Read title and fix

It’s impossible to receive the required SMS verification through this awful app if you don’t have a UK number. It’s insane that the developers of this thing never thought tourists might want to pay for parking. Off to find coins I guess.

The app is buggy to the point of being un-usable. When trying to register, password is always flagged as invalid, even if all requirements are ticked and green. The website is no better. I have entered a US phone number, and never get an SMS. Maybe I have entered the phone number wrong, but the page happily accepts it, not appearing to do any sanity checking on the entry before asking me to enter the validation code that never appears.

Doesn’t work with non-British phone numbers. Because apparently no one at ringgo is aware that people visit the UK, rent a car and need to park somewhere.

Developers hear ye!! The app will not accept a non UK number . I have an Irish mobile and a US number . The app will not send a verification code . This I could not pay. Please update it . Thank you. Downtown Bristol and can’t pay.

This app will not work for SMS messages with cell numbers from outside of the UK. You will never be able to fully register in order to use the application. Even worse was the number to “pay by phone”. The automated voice puts you into a round robbin asking the same questions on repeat without any live person available for help. Do not be like me and waste so much time trying to get this to work.

We tried using this app to park in Glasgow, Scotland, to visit the cathedral and necropolis on a rare sunny morning. No luck. We couldn’t even register, much less pay for parking, as our registration texts never arrived. We then tried calling the related phone number and using the automated system, and that didn’t work, either. We finally gave up and left Glasgow early to sightsee in Edinburgh instead. It was a pity, as we really wanted to see both the cathedral and the necropolis (and there were tons of available spaces in the parking lots), but we didn’t want to chance a 60-pound ticket for parking without paying. I wonder how much money the city of Glasgow is losing each quarter because this parking system doesn’t work. Unfortunate for all involved.
