Along with dialling up a playlist, having Roon on iDevice is a great source of musician lore and such when the music plays off one’s Roon source system… which in my case is a rather immobile laptop. As I write, I can’t speak for wireless playback, but the expense of yet another music playback device suggests that would be a non-starter. Mileage, too, may vary with that Roon source. I have a dedicated DAC for the lappy, which I suppose is good enough.
So much better than volumio. I’m using ropieee and it’s awesome. Faster, cleaner and works better. Do yourself a favour and loose volumio.
Roon is amazing. It’s elemental to how I experience music. It continues to improve and enhance my appreciation for my favourite artists and fosters intelligent intuitive discovery. Roon Remote works flawlessly on all my devices. It is a joy to use.
Nice design, but too unreliable. As others have said, there are just too many crashes
Really love Roon and it’s recommendations/music matching. However the latest version just crashes endlessly on my iPhone 13. Becoming unusable for me unfortunately
Just download Roon 1.8 and when I click on a feature, tha app crashes. I was also typing names of connected devices and it continues to crash. Completely unstable!
After deciding to trial roon on my laptop, which works well, it was installed on my iPad Pro. Opening for the first time and connecting to my MB pro as server the app it is unusable because it crashes whenever selecting a genre. Uninstalling didn’t fix it.
1. The software is clunky, very clunky. It has big inefficiencies. Why for example does the app need to be reloaded when the screen turns off or when you’re switching between apps?! 2. There are a lot of bugs. 3. Go onto their community site, there are SO SO many issues. 4. Their community is full of toxic asshats. 5. It’s extremely pricey with a subscription, and yet it’s something you still need to self host? This is an app from the 2000s. 6. You will never get this software to work with Apple Music, Spotify or any of the big streamers. They require “full integration” - it’s not clear what this means to anyone besides that this software will never work with any of the big boys
For all the functional improvements the new iPhone app crashes constantly. Terrible experience when you consider the high subscription cost. Give me the previous app anytime, it may have been ugly but actually worked
First off all, the iPhone Apps looks good and works fine. iPad App is always crashing when I try to open the setting as I wanted to change to the dark-mode.
