Scruff has become my default dating app, though through no effort from the developers. While every message on Grindr is from a bot linking to a website, Scruff at least has people on it. Scruff also has an increasing number of people(?) trying to sell you massages. Scruff also has a problem where uploading any photos takes forever and is liable not to work the first 4 or 5 times (and videos are even worse). At the same time, Scruff has gotten much more aggressive in its monetization. So while I like Scruff, I am worried that it will end up just as unusable and over monetized as Grindr.

I was just talking with someone and they asked for a link. I tried to send it, but it didn’t work. So I tried to send it again, I figured it was just a network issue. Same error. Change my network, same error. Finally force close the app to reload it, and I get notified that my account was suspended for spam in the chat. Absolutely garbage moderation policy and I didn’t get a warning or any notice that any link will get you a ban. Not only that, but it also prevents accessing support while you’re suspended. This is a customer experience nightmare. Don’t you realize how ubiquitous it is to send links when talking?

Scruff is severely stale dead over taken by unmoderated “FAKE” profiles. Constant “Harassment” to upgrade at every feature. Scruff App greatly mislead users serving profiles continents away. No effort is made to improve local user experience. Very greedy App. Ads are extremely aggressive and served in an infuriating way. Mediocre App experience.

I’ve been enjoying this experience so far. I’ve made a few new friends and have met a few guys. Definitely better that the competitor apps but not as many people, go figure. I wish they would integrate being able to link your Spotify or Apple Music account so you can show your music preferences and see others. Limited amount of blocks can be a pain though. Some people you just don’t want to run into online AND in person.

Used to love this app, great utilities. Deleted because the past few months they make it hard to update profile photos, even when they follow guidelines. Not wasting my life anymore on this

Mostly fake profiles. Scam for money. Photos stolen and Scruff blocked me for complaining about it.

Got banned for asking people sexual health questions. Terrible app.
