Shot Lister

The app is good for setting up shots and planing but the app does not like to save drawings. Multiple times I’ve spent 20 tp 40 minutes drawing a scene and when I close the app it doesn’t save any of my work.

The current version of the Mac software is glitchy, freezes / times out, and will cause you to lose work. I followed all troubleshooting instructions on their website and contacted their help desk, which proceeded to tell me all the problems I am experiencing are due to a known issue and that they hoped to have it resolved sometime in the future. They suggested I work with the free iOS app, when I was seeking support on the premium Mac Pro software that I had purchased. Given you will lose work and your files often will not open due to a known issue, this software is unusable and is certainly not something they should be charging anything for.

If you want to be prepared, organized, and ready to shoot, this is definitely the app to get. It works seamlessly from shot listing your entire script to planning out your days work on set, also viewing your storyboards. I highly recommend it to all!

I’ve heard about it through Film Riot on YouTube and I was always intrigued to use it. Working on a longer independent project at the moment it seemed to be the right time to try it and I’m not disappointed. It’s really a huge help to plan a shoot, it gathers everything you need from the shot list to the planning, it’s easy to use and very responding. And the ability to use it on a tablet on a shoot is much more convenient than paper.

This is a great app!! I have been using it for 3 years and it just gets better. It lists shots clearly, it is easy to navigate and can be shared on other devices.it is also easy for others to follow. Love this app!!!!

I used this app for my next project and it was very helpful. Simple, user friendly, easy to learn. Plus : great and quick customer service ! Best app so far to do a shot list !

This app has helped me plan shots during pre-production. It has a nice layout and it helps you visualize exactly what you are going to shoot. However, its application is limited to solo use and pre-production. As soon as you add team members to your crew, the app looses all functionality. Only one person can edit the shot list at a time. You have to manually upload your work to the server and your team members have to manually sync the app before they start making changes, otherwise you lose all your work. Due to that issue, I have lost a few hours of work on two occasions. I think the app is helpfully use on your own and offline but the yearly subscription is not worth the money.

Sometimes an app comes along that you realize is indispensable. This is one such app. It is full featured and makes a filmmakers life so easy, and the ability to share/collaborate amongst the crew means everything. When I originally got this I was so excited when the developer added spreadsheet templates on the website to input info in on the computer and now the actual app is available for Mac, too. This app is a must for your entire crew, from pre prod, to prod, and even in post, the printouts are invaluable!! And make sure you check out the pro upgrade! Don’t shoot your next project without it!!!

No matter how large or small the project, Shot Lister is a tool I cannot be without. In pre-production it really helps me stay organized and helps me visualize the project. On the one occasion I needed tech support, I received it instantly! However I would add a spell check tool as I’m a terrible speller.

I've been using this on an iPad Pro for my current film project. It works in side by side so you can have the script up at the same time and the interface is quite intuitive. Great program.
