Love Arc on Mac & Now on iPhone

AurimasGizas on

I was a windows user when I first discovered Arc. Few months later I bought a Mac and downloaded Arc and the next day I made it my default browser, a switch from Chrome browser that I’ve used for +10 years. Just learned there’s an iPhone version. It looks amazing, I love the spaces feature and it’s all synced to my original account as on Mac. Would like to be able to open more tab as in safari without having the need to pin each tab to open a new thing but other than that, so far it’s great and I look forward to new updates!

A great first start

I think the main problem with this app is that it’s great and I want it to be more. I want to be able to open and use tabs like I would on the web but the companion portion holds it back from being truly useful. I’d hoped it would come on over time but the focus now seems to be on the engine. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure that makes sense, but it leaves this in limbo and seemingly a long way away from some love.

Great browser but I'd love to see PWA support

iPad version please

QualityHorse on

I love the desktop/laptop version. Uses it as default. But would have preferred the ‘mobile’ version to have been developed for the iPad first. I don’t use the iPhone version as lack of integration.

Good to have it, but far from desktop version

I love Arc, but there are a few things making it not so good on mobile: 1. I can’t set it as a default iOS browser, so links do not open in Arc 2. I can’t see my open or pinned tabs

iOS vs MacOS browsing experience

hadriandiem on

I completely understand where users are coming from when they talk about the discrepancy between the desktop and mobile experiences in the iOS Browser app. It's a real challenge to replicate the same level of seamless interaction on mobile devices due to the inherent differences in workflow patterns. To tackle this, I suggest considering a shift in the original concept to align with familiar mobile patterns or enhancing the app's user-friendliness by adding more advanced features. As it stands, the app feels a bit basic and isn't quite mature enough to be my go-to browser. It's disappointing that we can't even set it as the default browser on iOS. However, I believe we can turn things around with some specific improvements: 1. Introduce a robust multitasking framework that allows users to manage multiple windows simultaneously, and make it easy for them to switch between windows with simple swipe gestures, left or right. 2. Prioritise adding an incognito browsing mode to respect user privacy and ensure their browsing history remains confidential. 3. A comprehensive browsing history feature is a must. Users should be able to access a log of their visited pages for quick and convenient revisits and Recents doesn’t quite do the job very well. 4. Pinned websites are a great feature, but we can take it further. On the mobile version, let's give pinned websites a distinct visual style that sets them apart from regular saved sites. We want users to feel like they're scrolling through an engaging gallery of their favorite websites. 5. The confusion between active and pinned windows needs to be addressed. It can be achieved by creating a clear visual distinction, like adding a distinct divider or border where it says “active windows”, so users can easily differentiate between the two. 6. Also, the visual aesthetics and overall interface on iOS could benefit from refinement to match the sleekness and elegance of the macOS version. Ensuring design consistency and optimizing the user interface for iOS devices would contribute to a more cohesive and enjoyable browsing experience across platforms (specially when I use dark mode for everything). Finally, I'm really enjoying the macOS app version, and I can't wait to see the future updates and enhancements for the iOS app. With the right improvements, I believe we can create a highly functional and user-friendly browsing experience that meets the expectations of mobile users. When all the above gets targeted and fixed I w

Never worked again after 2nd update

Duncan Robertson on

I use the desktop version every day think it’s work of genius. The mobile app I liked although as I think you’ve expressed too it’s not quite there yet but work in progress. The problem is after just the second update the app is now borked! Just shows me “unknown error: the data couldn’t be read as it’s in the wrong format” I’ve deleted and reinstalled. Same. Don’t know who to tell? And can’t attach screen shots here. I really want to like this but at the moment, can’t

Love the Mac version, but the mobile one is annoying

Lovedatter on

I fell in love with the Mac version of Arc, it’s the perfect browser. In order to become my default browser, I needed a mobile version (and an iPad version, please!), but unfortunately there are some important issues that ruin the user experience. I understand that they couldn’t bring all the features on the mobile version, but not being able to open more than one tab at a time or to create a new Space from the mobile version is very frustrating. I had been forced multiple times to use Safari to be able to open a new tab, without having to lose the one I was currently on. Yes, you can pin it, but sometimes I just want to quickly look something up and keep it open without having to pin it, especially if I won’t be needing this tab to be permanently saved on my Space.

Not as user friendly as the desktop platform

Melodyshato on

Not as user friendly as the desktop platform. Unable to set as default browser.

Annoying!

TakeitEasyLizard on

Apple really needs to stop letting devs release apps when all we do is have it sitting on our devices while you wait on a waiting list! Why even release something when it isn’t the final built? If you’re really thinking about user testing and feedback you clearly don’t have enough faith in what you do. Just saying.
