I’ll be halfway through a book and when I open the app to listen it makes me redownload the book every time. I deleted the app and redownloaded and still does this. I hope that new York public library will choose a different app to host their collection.
I can neither download nor return the books that remain in my queue. Some were never "picked up", some were downloaded via the Cloud Library or Libby but remained "unopened" in the Simply E app, and others went past the due date. As a result my borrowing limit is always full. I do not recommend this app until they correct their checkout-return function. Which I attempted to inform them of months ago, btw.
Can’t even load in my books
First off, I’ve posted reviews of this app before, but the App store seems to have lost each one. I’d like to give one star to this App store for also being terrible. Now, for the app: after *several years* of use (unfortunately the other library apps don’t seem to have access to the entirety of NYPL’s catalogue), two issues STILL persist even now: 1) Bookmarks are broken. I just read Frankenstein, a 213-page book. Every single bookmark I made after page 58 was gone the next time I opened the app. So I had to search through the book every single time I went back to it to find my place after page 58. Absurd. 2) Reserves (or maybe notifications) are broken. I had two books on reserve: Kara Swisher’s Burn Book, and Steinbeck’s Cannery Row, both very popular apparently. They both simply disappeared from my reserves list and now I have to go to the back of the line and wait another 13 and 10 weeks respectively to check them out. It’s possible they were available and the app just never notified me even though I have notifications turned on and it has notified me of books becoming available before. Sometimes it simply just cannot do the basic functions it was designed for. Ridiculous.
Frequently it says I have a book available for download and then when I click get it returns it to my reserved queue. Also doesn’t properly keep your place, for example no matter what page I end on, it returns me to page 19 when I open the app.
Its 4 .5 only because it’s not the caliber of Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. Readers voices were great. Im loving RY..
Great selection of books. I’ve had a problem with it not saving my spot so you really have to make sure to bookmark!
Unable to download and no option to remove audiobooks from app therefore have reached maximum limit and can’t borrow anything new.
There is no option to read on your Kindle E-reader unless you have a Fire. Libby is better for use with ereaders. Hopefully they will update this soon.
This is a comment, not a review. An excellent reading of a masterwork.
