Somfy Protect Reviews

Buggy doesn’t stay in background since ver 4.7.4

Stukeyme on

United Kingdom

Since version 4.7.4 which was released in Feb 2023 the Somfy app never stays in the background on my iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 16.3.1. It always has to be reloaded which slows down use of the app. Over a year later and this issue still isn't fixed. Frustrating and disappointing.

Useless

Sta88 on

App continually loses connection with alarm. Cannot turn alarm off so you are stuck outside your house. Utter rubbish system!

Impossible to connect to new WiFi

Somfy one user on

United Kingdom

Somfy one worked fine with old WiFi router but since installing a new router it is impossible to connect to the WiFi. Followed all the (minimal) instructions and troubleshooting advice with no success. No further instruction or information available. Very disappointing…

Smart alarms are the future

I have a large home over 30 metres wide and this system covers ‘almost’ all areas without a radio extender with some exceptions due to having to get through 4 walls and a double L shape corridor. So it’s impressive for a wireless system and superior to my old professionally installed alarm for these reasons: - the intellitags tell you BEFORE the intruder gets in. - activativing the alarm via keyfob, keypad, voice or mobile is more convenient than running to an old fashioned keypad alone in the middle of the night. - The indoor Somfy cameras allow you to check if it’s merely an insect while your away from home. Very reassuring. - automatic shutters on the cameras is a great privacy feature - batteries are mostly still working after 2 years of use, aside from well used keyfobs - I’ve installed 3 alarm systems now and they are working well - about 50 sensors can be added so very adaptable The drawbacks are minor, but worth knowing -the keyfob buttons can stick and flash wasting the battery which needs replacing more often than other components. A larger capacity battery may be an improvement. A cover would also prevent damage as they scratch easily with keys. - the cameras sometimes don’t shut, but this is usually a Wi-Fi outage and eventually will - don’t press the keyfob repeatedly if nothing happens it may be a short signal delay. If you do it can confuse the system. Wait a few seconds or even longer for a response if nothing happens - A doorbell camera would be useful - The siren could be a bit larger on the outside, it’s smaller than most for a deterrent. - The batteries on the motion sensors are not AA or AAA like the intellitags, so more expensive to source - you can use the wired cameras as a motion sensor, but if you do they false alarm more often that the motion sensors, insects like spiders and moths set them off. Though they are great for checking that it’s a false alarm, so use them for video not motion perhaps - it’s ability to work with voice activated Alexa is unpredictable and cumbersome But on the whole this is a good top of the range system with some man made flaws expected of every system.

Cannot fault it!
