Can’t register
Update - all sorted and been running flawlessly for the past few years
Beware of buying this if you intend to move. I registered in UK then moved to Spain. The time zone doesn’t work correctly for schedules so I was advised to register the box to Spain. They can’t just move you - UK had to delete me from their system - including all my routines and schedules. But now Spain Somfy says my box PIN is invalid, and that it hasn’t been released correctly. No one seems to know how to fix this so I’m left with a box I can’t login to and all my related automation broken 😠
The ‘Atari tennis’ of smart home apps.
A dreadful, clunky, dated app that hasn’t had a decent update in the 4 years I’ve had my blinds. You have to login every time you use it - why? Had the motors replaced this week and trying to now add the new motors to the app is a massive pain. Not like Hive where you can add them from the app. Customer support is also non-existent.
Functionally good but poor user experience
Functionally the app works well as does Tahoma and does everything written on the box and the scheduling is pretty excellent( but I would love to see the ability to use local weather data).
However the fact you need to login every single time you want to use it to open or close a blind manually and that when you open it takes some time to refresh makes it really hard to use and quite pointless - much quicker and easier to walk through the house to find the remote control and actuate the blinds there. Why can’t it remember my login and do this automatically or give me a choice.
Control 4
Be good if it could work with control 4 in the uk

Great.
Ok, poor access
So, a bit clunky and buggy to set up but the big gripe is access. By the time you have entered Username plus password you might as well press the wall buttons and keyfob. Nice idea in theory, waste of time in practice.
Come on guys!!! Face ID? Hello???? Who wants to spend 10 mins accessing the system from a phone in a car to open a garage!

Great
Initial Somfy user
So far the system is pretty good. Had some challenges setting it up due to language issues. Be good if Somfy could have upfront access to choose the language instead of it being hidden away in some random settings menu that is impossible to find when you don’t speak German (default language for Switzerland -:)). However, once setup and installed all devices IO and RTS is actually really intuitive and quite simple. One annoying aspect is the way the app refreshes itself every time you start up - cosmetic but could be better managed. So far so good and a pretty good a reasonably priced home automation system.
Great once you understand...
We use this hub to control 8 blinds in our house and it works a treat. Can’t say that the instructions are easy to follow but once you twig it then they are good!
Update much worse
Since the app was updated I cannot set scenarios with groups of shutters not can I set future calendar events. It only allows individual devices to be operated.
Nearly useless.
The old app worked fine.
