😭 Everything I’m looking for
(This is my first app review in 15 years😱)
As a student that’s also working full time I needed a way to read textbooks and articles more efficiently. I tried about 10 different apps before finding this gem!! I appreciated that it was simple to use, and you can always get upgraded/more natural sounding voices w/ OpenAi’s pay-as-you-go tokens (or microsoftAI).
Dear developer, I super appreciate you, and also appreciate what you’re doing for the community in giving back to those with visual impairments. From one human to another, thank you for existing, truly!!!
Open AI doesn’t work
I keep plugging the key in, and it doesn’t work. There are no instructions indicating what I might be doing wrong. And even the fallback voices for it are not working.

Solves a no-audiobook problem
This app is simple & easy, solving my no-audiobook challenges, as well as any other type of document I have needed on audio. I easily move Apple books over to listen to them.
It’s a bit behind on the voice AI, but functional. I can listen and drive or listen & rest; any number of options that are helpful.
Decent but unfortunately some issues
I use this app a lot for my school readings. Overall the scanner is not great, but works most of the time. The voices are fine and can be adjusted quite well. I’m quite happy with the app for the price, but have run into some issues that has made my experience not great.
Some annoying issues:
There’s a setting that allows you to turn off reading things in parenthesis, but my reader still reads everything in parenthesis despite my many attempts to get this to work.
Lately I’ve also been running into this issue where every other minute my reader says something like “grade equals 2” and then reads the next sentence at a super slow pace.
If someone at speech central reads this please look into these issues! Thank you!

For those looking for a great PFD reader you can’t go wrong with this app. I purchased Lifetime Premium and don’t regret it. I don’t do reviews but will surely recommend this app to anyone….
Works a lot better after the latest update.
Updating as the developer replied and the app is a lot more stable now specially after disabling sync. Not sure why it was enabled by default in the first place given how buggy that setting makes the app.
It’s a good app giving 4 stars as the app still has a few rough edges specially around playback controls with AirPods.
Getting Better

Better than Voice Dream
I have used all mobile apps that can possibly relate to text to speech reading, but they all are either 1. Making users pay subscription, even then, you’re not guaranteed to have the app working for some weird reason : or 2. Not receptive to feedback when received from users. An app always requires a feedback from users. An app should always be up for receiving feedback whether good or bad, to improve the overall quality and performance. Highly recommend this app!
Switched from Voice Dream
Found this app after looking for an alternative to Voice Dream Reader which I used loyally for 10 plus years. The developer sold that app and the new owner immediately shafted all legacy customers and users by demanding an $80 yearly subscription otherwise disabling the app through the latest update. Classic bait and switch. This was shocking to everybody. That app was fantastic in terms of its functionality.
This new app is a great successor in many ways, but there is a long way to go to reach the standard set by VDR. Hoping the developer will enable the downloading of voices from Acapella to start with. I’m also hoping he will enable the presentation of PDF documents in their original format like VDR.
