Free trial is not a free trial !
Don’t bother. The free trial is NOT a true free trial of what the app can do. You can’t even sample how editing works. Dev’s ‘response’ (contradiction) makes no difference ⤵️

It’s a clunky app. Not really that pro, not really amateur. Somewhere in the middle. It doesn’t quite know what it is…
I love Storyist and the features. I have version 3 on an old MacBook and version 4 on my iMac and on my iPad. Syncing files is simple through iCloud so you always have an up to date copy. This is so useful to me as I can work at home or away. Although similar to Scrivener (which I also have), I find Storyist easier and more intuitive to use. Learning to use it requires much less effort and more time to concentrate on writing. There are also some excellent tutorials on YouTube which show how to use and customise output for print or ebooks. I also found the after sales help to be remarkable. Obviously software is very much a personal choice but if you like the idea of a proper writing app but struggle with more complicated ones, I thoroughly recommend Storyist.
I like this app a lot. It’s definately helped me to understand format. The one niggle I’ve had so far is with page numbers. The guidance you find is for Mac so you have to dig a bit deeper to figure out how to do it for iPhone/iOS. I’ve found it and managed to do it but the app will not let me move page number anywhere other than top left. Each time I go in to the place where I would choose my alignment the app crashes. Also, if you want to add ‘page 1’ as opposed to just a number, this doesn’t seem possible. You can type ‘page 1’, but this then adds it to every page. Then every page has ‘page 1’ at the top!?! There’s a button you can press ‘page #’ which will add a single number to each page, but this took me ages to figure out. This should be such a simple feature, and when you’re trying to create something professional it really lets the app down. Please sort it out and make it... easy? Thanks.
Storyist, as said, is overshadowed by Scrivener but Storyist is kept up to date. Because the script, text is one file the search feature is really useful. There is flexibility of formatting and layout. Definitely the best alongside Scrivener at a sensible price.
