Strongbox Pro

I was a 1Password user for 10 years, finally switching to StrongBox when 1Password 8 became a sluggish/bloated Electron/cloud-only app, and was becoming a very corporate developer-centric direction in terms of new features. It had lost its purpose for me as a personal password manager, so it just had to go. Fast forward to today, and I'm very pleased with how StrongBox has worked out - it's the perfect blend of commercially supported open source software, and judging by the frequency of releases and new features, is most definitely under active development. Plus, if for any reason you want to move away from StrongBox - but why would you want to? - the open source KeePass database format means there are plenty of other apps to choose from, while KeePass database entries are also easily assimilated into closed source/proprietary password managers - if you want to go back to the dark side. Then come to your senses :) Highly recommended, especially for anyone wishing to escape from the clutches of proprietary password managers and would like control over where your data is stored.

This has got be the best Password manager available for Mac and iOS.

Please polish up accessibility support for VoiceOver users using the action menu (can't remove an entry from a list and instead had to remove it from the complete list of items, no indicator for audit items in VoiceOver and no way to see a list of all audit items separately, etc). Other than that this is basically the open source password manager of my dreams with complete data sovereignty and a portable database format that works well across the Apple platforms using native autofill. Thank you, and keep up the great work! I am a refugee from 1Password and I'm loving it so far!

I really like this because it uses the same file as my preferred password manager on Windows (KeePass) so I can keep my various devices in sync automatically via iCloud. Works really well. It gives good options for password generation, including ‘diceware’ multiple random words (as now recommended by NCSC), and it integrates nicely into the iOS password ecosystem. If it has one failing, it’s that it currently can’t do ‘tell me characters x, y and z from your secret phrase’. But that comes up so rarely these days (in my experience) that it’s not worth losing a star over. 5 stars from me.

UI is terrible. When you try to resize from right, left also change. When the app is at the edge of screen, it is a big issue when adding things. The money I paid £99 vs the experience is way too below my expection. Learned the lesson painfully.

I have moved from 1Password after almost ten years. The transfer was very simple. Strongbox is quite intuitive and allows me to run offline vaults. I would never save important passwords in any cloud, especially not on someone else's server.

Great app. Finally we get the iOS and macOS versions as one licence hence I decided to upgrade to pro. It’s quite dear if you go the one-off payment route but totally worth it imho.

I was looking for something to replace MiniKeePass after it was discontinued and Strongbox came up in a few recommendations. I like that it doesn’t require a web service like some others and can read different formats of password file. It also has good support for additional security measures like 2FA and convenience factors like FaceID. Great support from the developer too, plus options to pay outright rather than subscription, which is always appreciated.

I was on 1Password since 2014 or so and recently switched to Strongbox. 2 major points that I love. 1) You can actually buy a license/lifetime version and not have to have yet ANOTHER subscription. 2) You can setup an in-home computer from which to sync to and from, no need to store all of your passwords on cloud servers somewhere. In the day of constant hacks, this is of key importance to me. Kudos Strongbox!

You guys knocked it out of the park with 2FA and Apple Watch integration. Love everything you’re doing and this just killed all other authentication apps.
