Strongbox Pro

I have tried lots of password managers and Strongbox beats the competition by a country mile. It is incredibly secure, you control where your data is stored, it’s feature packed, has a beautiful interface, works perfectly across multiple devices, it is actively developed and the developer regularly engages with and supports users. Do yourself a favour and purchase this app. I can guarantee it will not disappoint.

iOS password managers don’t get too much better than this. Only criticism is that there is a lack of cloud storage integration support built-in. Only has the big 3 but not even an option for adding S3 storage buckets (Amazon, IDrive e2, Backblaze, etc). S3 buckets I would argue are just as popular or important & many file manager apps have S3 bucket support built-in. With that being said, for me, using the Files app as the storage source & selecting my IDrive e2 bucket to sync with does work. But mileage may vary with the Files app method if using a different S3 storage provider.

Unusually, Strongbox Pro does not support any form of passcode for unlocking a locked database after it is opened with your master password. Thus if you have a brand new Mac without a TouchID keyboard (e.g. Studio, Mini) then it becomes somewhat unusable. I raised this with Support whose complete response was: “That is correct. Sorry we can't be of more help this time around!” Three stars. Sorry I can’t be offering more this time around.

No tracking

Whilst online password managers are convenient, they are still operated by a single entity. Sure, you could self-host, but that's not really an option for most people. Enter Strongbox, with it's very convenient syncing for multiple devices and feature-list as long as your arm. Without a doubt, the top of the feature list, imvho, is the underlying database bing in the standard keepass format. This means that if Strongbox ever disappears from the App Store, you can still access your passwords using any other app that opens keepass databases, on any platform. Make sure you reularly export your backups somewhere, and you are good to go in the event of almost any disaster. Great product and fabulous support!!

I tried the rest, and had various issues like vault sync and random connectivity issues accessing my vault. Strongbox just worked from day 1, no issues. It could be a bit faster to open my vault when I’m at work (no wifi, 1 bar of mobile service), but apart from that I have no complaints. Highly recommended.

Best on the market, utilise iCloud for your backup and you can access on almost any device with Strongbox or KeePassXC. Have purchased lifetime accounts for iOS and OSX. Native integration functionality to use it in iOS and OSX makes it a breeze.
