Thermometer works well, app is functional. Definitely better for TTC than TTA
Pros: thermometer does what it says on the box. Once you’re wearing it properly every night it gets a reliable temperature for FAMs. App has places to enter in all your other reference points when tracking cycles and fertility like mucous, cervix and PMS symptoms.
I go back and forth on whether I like the algorithm adjusting previous temperatures or not. Ultimately it hasn’t been adjusting mine enough to change interpretation significantly.
Cons: Definitely you should know your method’s interpretation and rules and rely on your own interpretation if you are TTA. I don’t like that you must keep entering mucous after peak in order for it to recognize the peak/ovulation day. If you don’t specify that there was no mucous it keeps moving peak forward from your last entry.
There’s also a Facebook group run by the company. Really helpful for getting the armband fit right. Kind of catty otherwise. YMMV.
Device great; app meh
Using device for 3-4 years now, definitely worth it. New band design fixes crappy plastic frame design that kept cracking. Ridiculous that app still doesn’t export temps to Apple Health after all this time. Sleep score bears no relationship with reality and does not identify wake periods reliably (or at all unless you get up and walk around). Charting is basic.
Hard to justify subscription for basic charting when temp can be entered into other apps that chart better. Auto Sleep is more accurate for sleep.
Review for device itself
5 stars for the tempdrop device itself. I have owned it for 3.5-4 years now and it’s still one of the best tech purchases I have made that has actually made my life easier! Tech always promises to help us but I’m usually just fighting it but tempdrop has made it near effortless to get accurate charting temps every single day. As I used the device long before they had an app I can’t rate the app, I use an external app as that is what I’ve come to know and love over the years.
Great device
The device is fantastic, no questions asked as well as customer service. I use a 3rd party app for charting but from what I’m seeing myself, it’s a good app. It runs smoothly and has many features. I just already paid for an app so I can’t comment on the premium subscription.
Terrible new charting
Doesn’t take into consideration women with irregular cycles that last more than 35 days. Too fussy to sync with device (actually was easier with the older version of the app that displayed the temp in giant numbers on screen afterwards and with a big button to sync). It also immediately gives the status that it’s syncing when it’s not (there used to be a “searching” status) and it takes more attempts to connect in comparison to the old app. I like TempDrop device itself and don’t want to worry about temping orally at the exact same time everyday, but I still wouldn’t use this app for charting. New app is terrible.
New update is terrible
Cannot view my whole chart. Miscalculated ovulation. And the interface is terrible. Tempdrop is a great product but this app is terrible.
Not good for the price
The app design is cheap for the money you spend. Not to mention the app doesn’t work sync offline which I think is ridiculous. Also i feel its should come with a built in monthly graph and feature where you get to see the ups and downs of your temperature throughout the night.
Compared with the Natural Cycles app that I also use this one is just bad.
Best purchase ever.
I’ve been using this for 3 years and it’s been amazing. Fantastic customer service, the owner was emailing us along the way when they were developing a new system for it. Great warranty, and haven’t had any issues in the 3 years I have been using it. Highly recommend!!
Best money ever spent
Missing and questionable temps are a thing of the past since investing in a Tempdrop. It doesn’t matter if my alarm is going off at 3:45, 6:00, or 8:00 am, or if I’m waking up to run to the barn and check on a calving cow several times a night, even during a Canadian winter. There have been a couple minor hiccups with a sensor that quit working and one that cracked, but Tempdrop support has been amazing and promptly replaced them under warranty. I highly recommend!
It works
It is necessary to sync with the device. I wish it automatic synced with an iPhone app. It is what it is.
