Threema is 's werelds best verkopende messenger en houdt uw gegevens uit de handen van hackers, bedrijven en overheden. De dienst kan volledig anoniem worden gebruikt en biedt alle functionaliteit die u van een state-of-the-art instant messaging programma mag verwachten. Threema is open source. De app maakt het ook mogelijk om end-to-end versleutelde telefoon-, video-, en groepsgesprekken te voeren. Met behulp van de desktop-app en webclient kunt u Threema ook op uw desktop gebruiken.
PRIVACY EN ANONIMITEIT
Threema is vanaf het begin ontworpen om zo min mogelijk gegevens op servers te genereren. Lidmaatschappen van groepen en contactlijsten worden volledig binnen uw apparaat beheerd en worden niet op onze servers opgeslagen. Berichten worden direct na aflevering verwijderd. Lokale bestanden worden versleuteld op uw mobiele telefoon of tablet opgeslagen. Al deze zaken voorkomen de verzameling en het misbruik van uw persoonlijke informatie, inclusief metadata. Threema voldoet volledig aan de Europese privacyverordening (AVG).
IJZERSTERKE VERSLEUTELING
Threema versleutelt alle communicatie end-to-end, inclusief berichten, spraak- en videogesprekken, groeps-chats, bestanden en zelfs statusberichten. Alleen de beoogde ontvanger en niemand anders kan uw berichten lezen. Threema gebruikt de betrouwbare open-source NaCl-cryptografiebibliotheek voor versleuteling. De encryptiesleutels worden gegenereerd en veilig opgeslagen op de apparaten van gebruikers om toegang via achterdeurtjes of kopieën te voorkomen.
UITGEBREIDE FUNCTIONALITEIT
Threema is niet alleen een versleutelde, privé berichtendienst, maar heeft ook veel veelzijdige functies.

VOLLEDIG ANONIEM
Iedere Threema-gebruiker ontvangt een willekeurige Threema-ID ter identificatie. Een telefoonnummer of e-mailadres is niet vereist om Threema te gebruiken. Dankzij deze unieke functie kunt u Threema volledig anoniem gebruiken – het opgeven van privé-informatie of het aanmaken van een account is niet nodig.
OPEN SOURCE EN CONTROLES
De broncode van de Threema-app is voor iedereen beschikbaar voor controle. Daarnaast worden gerenommeerde experts regelmatig gevraagd om systematische beveiligingscontroles van de Threema code uit te voeren.

Using Threema for years on all my devices (pc & mobile (Linux, iPhone, etc)). Works always perfectly. Never ever had any problems! Everyone I know has Threema for their security and privacy, nothing else. Yet, Threema is not just an alternative or a substitute for other mainstream free apps. Actually, there is no substitute for Threema, because there can only one be ‘the best’. With Threema, only you know your true identity (…or your contacts, if you want). Threema costs just a few €’s, but then one gets the best & most secure messenger on this planet!
Update April 8, 2024: actually, I have proof that Threema is the safest and most secure E2EE messaging app, ever. I knew it! I repeat, there can be ONLY ONE the best. There’re no hidden trackers or any other ‘hocus-pocus’ things. Threema is a 100% honest app, one can trust. Thank you for making the Threema app possible! 👍

Update-bug?!
Since the new update 3 days ago the app doesn’t work anymore on the iPhone 15 pro max.
It shows the red one of a new message, and if you click on it you get a black screen.

Update: it would be great to have Threema-email (threemail) with the same security and ability to log in with 2FA or a security key (like yubikey). Maybe, just an goed idea to reconsider. I would pay for and use it immediately!
Crash
Last update crashed the whole app
Update that supposedly fixed a bug created a bug
The last update was supposed to fix a bug that made the app crash. Never had that issue but I have it now, started right after that update. Hope you fix it soon. Left WhatsApp for Threema but now I might have to go back.
IPad + iPhone
The disadvantage of this app is that simultanious usage on e.g. iPad and iPhone is impossible.

Actually, there is no substitute for Threema, because there can be only one ‘the best’. People say: “I have nothing to hide”. That’s nonsens. Everyone has some thing to hide. This or that, but privacy is privacy! We don’t have to share anything with the government, the men in the middle and/or other criminal 3rd eyes.
