TomTom GO Navigation & Traffic Reviews
Tom Tom Australia Update
Previous app used to be an amazing product. Once it updated it no longer recognises my lifetime purchase of prev app and now says I need to subscribe. Tried all avenues for support on this and does not recognise my purchase. Rip off. It did update to Tom Tom Go but now it does not recognise my previous lifetime purchase. How do I rectify this?
Bad enough that they backtracked on their lifetime apps
Once upon a time TomTom sold the Apps for a large (relatively) sum, around $80; when Go came out, we were given a free sub for three years, but promised support for the “old” non-subscription apps would continue. This was fairly quickly reneged on. Anyway fine, the app still worked on my iPhone 12 Pro, albeit never updated to the new screen size. Come iPhone 15 Pro, I can’t even redownload the app. So essentially TomTom/Apple have stolen $80 from me. Well played.
Disappointed
Hi admin, I am not able to sync my maps from my drive to tom tom app, i did delete app and reinstall, but still not working. Also there is no route record option in this app. What is benefit for paid users.
No customer support
Tried to get in contact with TomTom, regarding my account. Used the app to try and get back into the account, never got sent a link back to my email. Went to the TomTom website and battled with a AI customer bot. That could not answer my question. There is no way to send a email to customer service to ask for help.
Good app for navigation, but useless customer support, expensive if you don’t get help. Cancelled my subscription money down the drain! Never again, will rely on Google maps, at least it’s free.
Could be so much better
I’d like to like this app but it’s hard. The design is excellent. Clear on screen display, easy to use. The mapping, however, where I live in Brisbane Australia is woeful. There are roundabouts in the maps where there are lights, it recommends right turns across traffic islands, building addresses are frequently sufficiently inaccurate that you’ll need to go around the block and try to get where you’re going a second time.
I’d be less critical if these issues were due to new works but they’re not. A few days ago the app told me to take a left turn towards Alma Park Zoo. The Zoo closed about 10 years ago and the app doesn’t provide the street name as well which is confusing. The same thing also applies to directions referring to a hockey club which doesn’t exist and for which there is no signage. In a rural area recently it took me to a property I was going to but to which there was no access across a river. The property gate was off another road more than 20 minute’s drive away.
Navigation apps are only as good as their source data. Fix this, and this app is a winner!
Keeps downloading
What a waste of time, all I want is sat navigating and every time I open the app it keeps downloading maps. What a dud!!
TomTom IPhone App
Trying to like this app as I have been long time device user. Interface is not the same and I find the app is slower. The sharing ETA is convoluted in design. My best recommendation is to use the free trail period before buying.
No motorhome version
The TomTom Go camper sat nav’s are obviously based on the truck ones (just with camper POI), so why no motorhome version of this app (cheaper than the expensive truck version)?
Not to be trusted.
You need to use this app either with local knowledge or check your route with a paper map/ street directory before the journey. I find it often tries to take you via some side road off the main highway. Some of these roads are far too narrow for caravans and or larger trailers and much much slower than highways. I have checked the ridiculous route this app tried to take me with WAZE and Google maps and they didn’t take me on the same roads. I’m the first to admit WAZE, Apple Maps and GMaps often take us on stupid journeys but they are free and at $30 a year subscription I’m afraid I won’t be renewing this one.
