Description

LEARN LANGUAGES FAST: uTalk gets results because every word you hear is in your new language and you speak, listen and understand from the start.
With free starter words in 150+ languages, you can try it risk-free. Score 100% in the games and you can unlock an extra topic for free.

WHY UTALK WORKS:
1. LEARN FROM THE LOCALS: We record native speakers so you hear every word pronounced clearly. Mimic their pronunciation and compare your intonation with theirs. Practise until you get it right – you can even slow the audio down if it’s too fast.
2. USEFUL EVERYDAY WORDS AND PHRASES. Topics take around two to three hours to complete. But you can dip in for just five minutes at a time or longer. With 60+ topics, that’s a total of 180 hours of learning.
3. KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED: Check your scores on progress bars as you move through five progressively difficult games. To get full marks, you’ll have to know the words as well as your own language.

WHO’S IT FOR? uTalk’s tried and trusted way to learn a new language has been developed over 30 years and is perfect for beginners. But its wide-ranging language is also invaluable for intermediates looking to improve their vocabulary and pronunciation.
HOW IT WORKS: Subscribe to everything on uTalk or buy individual languages or topics. The app automatically syncs between your devices. Work offline by downloading content.

Great to start a new language!

Thank you very much! This app is awesome! I could learn a lot of vocabulary with this clever system of games! Of course, I’m sad there is no grammar and sentence building lessons, but anyway, now I can make myself understood just with the many words I’ve learned! May I suggest a category of action verbs? This would be a nice add! Thanks again!

Horrible app for kindergarten kids not adults

I really enjoy using this, it’s like bathroom readers (a series of books from the USA with thousands of little tidbits to read This app you can select a section and learn for a few minutes or an hour Bit of spare time? Open it up and learn a few more words or phrases If you have an issue, don’t worry this isn’t an app that takes your money and ghosts you They listen and resolve Customer service is 10/10

Great app!

I bought the Canadian French program and it has been great, except that the voices saying the phrases and/or words can sometimes be way to fast and that at times can make it harder to learn. Aside from that though, I really like it.

Love the number of languages, but, it's essentially just lists of words

Spen8821 on

Most topics are simply word lists with very few sentences. This app could be greatly improved if the words it featured were used in sentences. Edit/Additions: Upped the stars I gave this. I do enjoy the app, but, I dont find categories made of singular words helpful. Would be good if these single word categories had sentences instead. One thing I like about this app is that it's fun to use - Memory Game can be a pain though, especially the first half. The second half where you select the words/sentences on a timer is quite fun. Hard Game is the most useful for learning the words/sentences. I do appreciate that uTalk is a beginner app and doesn't try to cover more ground than that. Not only is the number of offered languages amazing, the audio featuring both male and female speakers is of exceptional quality.

Quite decent

One thing I would like to see is something that monitors my pronunciation rather than just having my pronunciation recorded. Monitoring my pronunciation would let me know if I’m actually pronouncing correctly or better. I don’t need a recording of me being wrong- my non-native ear can’t tell.

Great service

So much better than Duolingo. uTalk actually shows you the English version of the word/sentence along with a photo. I only know English and I have to learn French since me and my parents just moved to Quebec, uTalk made learning Quebec French fun and easy! (And yes, they have France French AND Quebec French!)

😍 So many African languages!!!

I’m SOOOOO grateful, you are literally the only app who has SO MANY African languages !!!!! I recently took a DNA test and I really want to reconnect with my African roots and it’s so hard to find African languages other than Swahili on the internet and the resources aren’t easily accessible… the fact that you have So many languages makes me so happy because of you, I’ll be able to learn Lingala, Yoruba , Zulu , Xhosa !!! Thank you x10000000 ! And your games are very interactive, fun and the vocabulary words that you suggest offer a great virtual immersion / introduction to the language :) perfect for beginners!!! Ps: Are you planing to add Ewe , Fon and Akan in the future? 😍😍😍 they are the official languages of Benin, Togo and Ghana :D Thanks 🙏🏾 😊
