Love the app but wish there was an offline mode so I could practice my flashcards on a plane or in areas with no cell reception
Using for French. Sometimes the app just plain gets things wrong. A magazine is a “revue” in French not a “magazine”.
Completely disappointed. I came here from the YouTube channel, assuming it’d be listening drills to be able to tell apart minimal pairs, but it’s just a video player with information you can find for free on YouTube. You also have to go through every lesson in a section to unlock the next. I got the one month subscription because I want to improve my pronunciation of English vowels specifically, but I had to go through the entire consonants section before I could get to the vowels. If I’m paying to use an App, why limit what content I can see? Suggesting an order for beginners is reasonable but if I’m paying I’m expecting to have access to the full thing right away.
Great app for learning languages. I like the fact that I can access all languages.
The new functionality has swiping removed, which is a pretty big bummer because it was very satisfying and added some gamification to it
Today I completed my 100th day of using this app daily to improve my French. It has been a great app and much better than the more well known language learning apps. My pronunciation is better than it’s ever been and listening to French radio I can hear what the speakers are saying much more clearly. My vocabulary is growing steadily and my spelling and grammar are organically improving without tedious painful drilling. I can’t stop recommending this app to family, friends and colleagues. If you truly want to learn and retain a new language this is the app to invest in with your time and money.
Really loving the method this app brings forward, however the lack of offline support (when on a plane, or moving from place to place - there isn’t always internet - so why would a language app lack something like an offline mode?) That and, no Desktop (Mac simply, let’s you use iOS Apps on a desktop but no support for that either). The lack of these two features has me using flashcards, even though I would like to use and pay for this app. Update: I’m reading the review for this app and whoever is responding has zero customer service experience (saying, “I’m sorry this method is not for you”. And not helping people when they express an issue - like billing issues and why a word uses past tense for a particular word - you guys sound like douchebags, no offense but you have a great app, but your customer facing side is really bad. (And I say this so you can fix it, not leave a douchey comment, “I’m sorry you had this experience…” Crap.)
I preface this review by stating that I had been a long time subscriber to Fluent Forever and have tried to be patient to allow the app to mature, but unfortunately it has not done so and has degraded to the point that I need to leave this review. One option on the app is live coaching where the content you learn with the coach and put in the app for review. This is great in concept, but the company has consistently failed to deliver on this with content not being uploaded, being uploaded on a delayed basis for weeks or having the content uploaded multiple times. What’s the bigger issue is that I have had content that has been uploaded to my app that it not mine, which makes me wonder where my content has gone - I’m not a lawyer but this seems to be a huge BREACH of PRIVACY LAW. I have have had continuous contact with the company, and their management has ignored the issue. When a company gets to this point on degradation, people should know the truth.
Learning terms in context ✅ Add your own words ✅ Emphasis on pronunciation ✅ Reclaim your streak if you miss a day by encouraging you to learn more✅ Awesome features all around and a useful tool for any language learning regimen.
I’ve tried different apps and this is the fastest way to learn vocabulary in a new language.
