Tried yesterday and today to book a train ticket. App says “check your network connection and try again”. News flash. I am connected to the internet on a full fibre line. Seems like the developers don’t care any more.

Doesn’t work on ipad

I like the app and the fact it connects to my Virgin Red rewards. The app has some great features including favourites and now has split ticketing. For me, it would be great when there is a split ticket I can add ‘All’ tickets to my wallet rather than one at a time.

Always use the app to book train tickets as it rewards you with virgin red points that you can use on future purchases for discounted train travel. I do wish it would remember my railcard though as I have just booked tickets without realising it doesn’t remember that I have a railcard when searching therefore spending more money than I needed to…

Easy to use and I can stack up savings each time I travel thanks to the loyalty programme with Virgin Red!

This app relies on information fed from your Virgin Red account, you can not make changes to your Virgin Trains Ticketing profile through the main app. It will not allow a payment from a card that doesn’t match your details ie; a company credit card.

Great app. It splits tickets but not as well as a dedicated split-ticketing service. Some work needed to get that right. Tickets delivered to the app and sent by email, so no messing around with station ticket machines. And, of course, Virgin points. This is where I'll be booking all my tickets from now!

Will not accept payment by Apple Pay, or any credit or debit cards I’ve tried. In the end I booked with Northern Rail and saved the booking fee, but then I couldn’t get the virgin points or cash back Virgin we’re offering me. :(

Minimal benefit of booking through virgin apart from when you want to book they apply a £10 fee across both tickets (outbound and inbound) which is different to Trainline so I’ll be sticking with Trainline and deleting the app - greed over customer flexibility. No flexibility if you rebook and poor customer service.

With this app you are unable to book multiple tickets in one transaction, unlike some other train apps. If you want to book a split ticket journey you have to carry out separate transactions for each journey rather than add all the tickets up & pay in one transaction at the end.
