If you care to read the T’s and C’s. Vivino expects you will be happy for them to share the data they acquire on you via the app to over 900 3rd parties. They will tell you it’s for App performance and quality improvement but they’re simply managing costs by allowing them to ingest the data they want to use. I had the premium for a while and cellar management was impossible. Expensive for premium and data costly for free.

The recent spate of attempts to force me to buy a premium subscription has resulted in this review and my decision to find an alternative solution. A massive own goal by Vivino. Otherwise a good product.
Pointless addition that added no value for users only adding revenue to the developers are a long established app.
On a regular basis the incorrect wine is displayed after a photo. Normally correct brand but incorrect type. Around 50% of the time. Looking for another app if this doesn’t stop.
Excellent guide and easy to use. Particularly handy to gauge value for international wines.

The app is great, but I am giving 1 because I bought a new phone and I can’t access in my Vivino account anymore because I don’t remember which email I have used to register. The app should allow with your details have the access for your email, not just the password
In the last few months I have had quite a few misreads. For example I have photographed an Esk Valley 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Malbec Gimlet Gravels, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand Vivino has ‘read’ it as: 1 Verdelho 2 Chenin Blanc 3 Rose 4 Albariño 5 Chardonnay 6 Pinot Gris BUT NOT WHAT IT IS. My photos are very clear. The style of wine can easily be read. Very frustrating.
I started working in a specialty/ niche liquor store (we specialise in higher end wines) about 6 months ago. 5 of those months have been spent in a lockdown (which means no staff tastings). I saw a customer using this app a while ago and it has honestly really helped me! When I’m blanking on information about a particular wine and have no tasting notes in my system I whip out this app. It’s also helped me pick out some wines for myself so that I can get to know my different varieties so that I can better help customers. I appreciate the “learn more about this variety” option. Covid hit my store hard and I haven’t been able to familiarise myself with a lot of our products so this app has been a life (and job) saver! Definitely recommend.
