Music locker and cloud server from Ukraine

wanderm on

Australia

Vox music player plays local music files (FLAC) that have been uploaded to their servers. It looks good and works pretty well, has last.fm integration, and is the best app for use hands free in my car. It’s keenly priced. But it isn’t best in class. Too often collections and queued tracks crash: even more frequently a music file that was anticipated and exactly what I wanted to hear just won’t play. The devs don’t offer much help, and now their city is caught up in Putin’s invasion, so this suggests anything at all is as good as it gets.

Your files, your way

For those who prefer the old-school method instead of all the streaming alternatives. Particularly useful for poor- to no-reception areas or lines of travel.

Good app but glitches

AppleMacPerson on

Australia

I love the app but some artists which so up on the Qobuz app don’t show up on this app and the app regularly glitches and the app closes, I’d like the app to not close all the time, I’d like it to show more artists and for it to have a 3D sound option.

Free up hard drive by sending music files to this locker

wanderm on

Australia

I’m writing this after seeking mobile access to my own FLAC files (in 16/44.1) and freeing up my ever short hard drive space. I had already trialed a competitor’s product, which was better at tagging and populating playlists automatically: however I believe now Vox is more suitable. It works well: my files play over cellular, nearly always gaplessly, and it scrobbles to last.fm. The competitor’s application didn’t, though it could have had I been better at programming routers or something. Vox is a third of their price too, which really helps. You do have to work on your own playlists rather than have the app generate automatically. I don’t think it’s a dealbreaker though, as you’ll be able to control what you’re doing with uploading and then adding album to “collection”. Right now, I’m all in.

Keep politics out of it.

Look I hate wars, I support Ukraine, dislike Putin, but please don’t don’t force political statements on a music app. A little Ukraine flag on your app icon is not going to change anything. Will not save one single life. It just irritates me. Pointless propaganda just for the sake of it to make us like like we care.

Shuffle all doesn’t work

Keep playing the same song

“Pasted from”, crashes & unloaded music files

ALP3R21 on

Australia

Why is this app pasting my copied text every time I go into the app.. sounds like a invasion of privacy (thanks iOS 14-16 feature). What’s the worst thing a music app can do ? CRASH… this is the last thing should happen. ”Loading music” (not all) “Viewing filtered content”>”Show All” Failure. This app is buggy, it buffers a lot with offline music… this app is trash. I’m going inspired to make my own hi res app.

No Siri

Lottie77 on

Australia

Seems like a nice app, but it doesn’t link to Siri, getting Siri to play a specific song in vox is … difficult. If impossible. I just want an app that will play all my songs, not lose any of them, and be voice controlled when I’m driving. Also not constantly mis hear me and start promoting a paid subscription like Apple Music.

Vox Player

Voxinit on

Australia

This app has good feature and is an easy use. It also produces a relatively good sound quality. My big problem with it is it regularly places a wrong album cover when I upload or share music to it, even really well known albums get an incorrect album cover, and often a single album cover is repeatedly used making selecting an album really confusing. This, for my part really lets a good app down and has reduced what would otherwise be a 5 star rating from me. Have tried to remedy by sending jpg’s of the actual correct cover but it makes no difference, ultimately you have no control over which cover the app attaches to your album, extremely frustrating.

Buggy

Keeps crashing when I’m playing songs. Definitely not worth paying for.
