Wipr

Legacy version

Published by: Kaylee Calderolla

Description

• This is the legacy version of Wipr, intended only for users of older versions of iOS and macOS.
• Wipr 2 is now available, and it is strongly recommended for all users running at least iOS 17 or macOS 14 Sonoma. Search for “Wipr 2” in the App Store or find it in the “More by” section below!

Wipr blocks all ads, trackers, cryptocurrency miners, EU cookie and GDPR notices, and other annoyances, so you can focus on the content that matters to you.
It works in Safari and all apps that use Safari to display web pages.
• Time, Data, and Battery Saver
Web pages load a lot faster with Wipr, and much less needs to be downloaded. Your mobile devices will love this.
• Private
Wipr prevents countless trackers from invading your privacy. Wipr itself cannot, nor wants to, know what you do on the web.
• Fast
By using a new technology called Content Blocking Extensions, Wipr can do its job without slowing down Safari at all.
• Up-to-date
Wipr's blocklist is updated twice a week to keep up with the ever-changing web.
• Honest
No one can pay to unblock ads. There are no "acceptable ads". Wipr only answers to you.
• Global
Wipr will use an enhanced blocklist for Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese speakers.
• Smart
You can set up Wipr in seconds, and it will update automatically in the background to block future annoyances. There is no configuration.

This app was built with love and patience. I hope you'll enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed designing and building it.
Wipr is also available for your Mac, look for it in the Mac App Store!
Enjoy a cleaner web!

Wipr Reviews

Not great

Martin33434 on

In my opinion, I think it’s a bit cheeky to bring out version 2 when version 1 still doesn’t work properly: Sites still have autoplaying videos, youtube still has ads, and the blocklist doesn’t automatically update in the background. I always have to remember to go manually update it myself.

Fantastic 😀

Best adblocker bar none!!!!

Instant change for the better

I had banish running but it never seemed to do anything. Installed this and went to a site that typically had lots of adds and they’re gone instantly. Finally some peace as I browse the web!

I switched to iPhone and Safari two years ago, bought this blocker extension, and haven’t had to think about it since.

There are better options

Free adguard, ghostery and adblock do better jobs than wipr. I've paid for this app yet its not able to block more the 70% of the trackers and ads while other free apps do. Wipr's lists seem to not be updated frequently. Better to avoid this app and pay for some other blocker.

The BEST adblocker on iOS

All of the “free” ones never work and have dubious privacy policies, and/or are trying to sell you a “pro” subscription. This app just works after a one-time purchase to support the developer. If you’re on the fence for this one, just do it.

Best ad blocker

This app works wonders to keep ads off of YouTube, the developer should be commended for always updating , I had my first ad on YouTube and in less than 48 hours after notifying the developer they had an update and once again YouTube is ad free, thank you kaylee

Disappointed

Steve CBR on

Australia

I believed the hype but it’s all BS. I chose to replace another blocker to get rid of increasingly invasive ads served by Google and this app does NOT WORK to clean up sites that are increasingly unreadable. SkyNews au and related sites are wall to wall ads. Really disappointed, guys. Disappointed in Tom’s Hardware more so for the BS review that led to the purchase. The web is just a sewer.

Better than AdGuard.

I’ve been using AdGuard for some time, but I had troubles with it from time to time. For example I started encountering “Disable your adblocker” banners a couple of days ago and it seems I can’t do anything with them using AdGuard. I’ve enabled all settings, all lists, nothing. But with Wipr it just work, no more banners, amazing! For what it costs it’s a royal bargain, I hope developer(s) will continue the great job!

It just works
