Description

Store your unique credentials on a hardware-backed security key and take it wherever you go from mobile to desktop. No more storing sensitive secrets on your mobile phone, leaving your account vulnerable to takeovers. With the Yubico Authenticator you can raise the bar for security.
* The Yubico Authenticator will work with any USB, Lightning, or NFC-enabled YubiKeys.
* As iPads do not have NFC, they will only work through a Lightning or USB connection.
The Yubico Authenticator generates a code used to verify your identity as you are logging into various services. No connectivity needed!
Features include:
Touch or NFC Authentication - Touch the YubiKey sensor or simply tap a YubiKey with NFC to a mobile phone that is NFC-enabled to store your credential on the YubiKey
USB-C support - Connect the YubiKey 5Ci or any USB-C type YubiKey. When prompted, depending on the key, touch the contacts on the sides of the key or the golden ring on the top
Biometric support - Experience greater convenience by unlocking your YubiKey with FaceID or TouchID
Easy Setup - QR codes available from the services you wish to protect with strong authentication
User Presence - New codes generated with just a touch or NFC tap of the YubiKey
Compatible - Secure all the services currently compatible with other Authenticator apps
Secure - Hardware-backed strong two-factor authentication with secret stored on the YubiKey, not on the mobile device
Versatile - Support for multiple work and personal accounts
Portable - Get the same set of codes across our other Yubico Authenticator apps for desktops as well as for all leading mobile platforms
Flexible - Support for time-based and counter-based code generation
Smart Card - Support for Apple's CryptoTokenKit Extension making it possible to use certificates stored on your YubiKey to authenticate with other apps and sites

Yubico Authenticator Reviews

Have to update Apple to Use!

Greg Peterson_87 on

I think they generally mean well, at least I’m looking forward to Working with them, to Make this work. They did respond to my review. I will try to contact Support after the Holiday. I cannot Fathom why anyone would want to create, or use, such an un-User friendly device though. I am all into the forefront of technology, I am called a “Techie” who can fix ANYTHING! But… this device… it has sat for many months as an Paperweight one that is Incapable of reading its OWN Miniscule (beyond Tiny) QR code even. The Clunky-interface is 1930’s Flashback. And, this “Techie” was Unable to move One step forward, with it. Mindnumbing, that they would put this out, as a Finished product. Their Responses are Just “canned” responses they Cut-and-Paste. I reluctantly “updated” the O/s against my better judgement. STILL, Nothing works! It Still requires the ‘update’ or WILL NOT install. This thing does Nothing… it Just sits there and Looks at you!! Still, have not found one-Single QR code. Not on sites like Login.gov … not even to goofle. Zero And, What the heck is this “secret passphrase”? No Pop-up Help, or Any kind. No Instructions, zip, zero. Do I even NEED this thing? It seems like just redundant MFA which i certainly wouldn’t spend $100 on. It LITERALLY CAN’T read ITS OWN QR code on the device! Nada. This thing COMPLICATES Life, so much, Not make it easier… it is *Definitely Not* Intuitive I may not even return it I might just Throw it in the garbage. HOW Could ANYTHING be Worse than ID.Me.? You Have to update apple in order to even Install it, which is Scary! Nothing works Intuitively, you have to be a computer savvy, no IT personnel, to even be able to use it. It never scans the QR code; you Have to Click the “manual” button! Next, it Asks for NON-existent QR codes… Presumably for Each individual Website you want to set-up? Can’t work on anything out of the box, but Maybe I’ll be able to figure this thing out before returning it.

App is horrible

Works sometimes, others no luck …. I literally thought it was bad …. Plug it into tablet, works …. Reinsert in iPhone, works now … very buggy no guidance…. I spent 3x the money to have the app … didn’t really work or do what it says ,well sometimes it does …. I have a few other brands and I’ve not had the issues…. I could have bought 3 for the 75$ I feel I wasted on this . Save yourself the headache and get a Titan or thetis . For way less .

Can’t use cuz it just crashes in seconds

I just bought two nanos and I absolutely cannot use this app. It crashes in seconds of opening it and trying to add account. Terrible. I hope something will change in the next day or two or I’ll just have to return both keys.

Excellent

It took me a minute to figure it out, but once I did it became my preferred Authenticator app and my preferred backup method for my yk5c. I also appreciate the developer reaching out to assist, though I had figured it out beforehand.

Pull down to activate NFC doesn’t work

Can’t get my codes on iPhone 15 running iOS 17.3.1. This is happening for app version 1.7.9 (build 128). Really annoying.

App doesn’t work

exactlyjake on

I have two yubikey’s that work great with the desktop companion app “Yubico Authenticator”. When I plug in to phone and/or use NFC on both my Yubikeys, the iOS app shows my keys and numeric code to input for login but when I input for login I get “keys don’t match” or something like that from the website. I plug back in to computer and works. Not sure what is going on. I just got these for the Authy EOS on desktop. Oh well. Guess more hardware for the drawer.

Haven't been able to tap NFC since updating to iOS17

Worked great when i bought the yubikeys but since updating my phone (13mini) when I swipe down to tap to get rolling codes off the yubikey nothing happens, no feedback. hopefully a bugfix will save the day.

Can’t use icons

Everything works as far as credentials go but this app is missing a feature you have in other OS (MacOS, Android) versions, the ability to load an icon pack.

No keyboard using iPhone 15 Pro

MerlinK on

United States

I have an iPhone 15 Pro. When using smart card emulation the iPhone treats the YubiKey as an external Keyboard, preventing me from entering my PIN. I have to unplug the YubiKey, enter my Pin then plug it back in. Additionally the iPhone 15 doesn’t always recognize that my YubiKey 5Ci is plugged in, preventing it from accessing my derived credentials. Please add the option to use a soft keyboard with the YubiKey attached via USB C.
