Over a year ago I requested that the reporting feature from the web version be brought to the iPad, which at that time was the only major feature missing from the iPad, and this month got notified that it has been delivered to “mobile”. After redownloading the iPad app, which I deleted for lack of feature parity, I discovered that “mobile” appears to only mean “phones” and not tablets. Super let down, especially given that now in addition to reports there are a bunch of business features that are not available on iPad/tablets. However, after a couple of weeks, all my institutions except for Fidelity have blocked access. You can try to sync manually but it’s a painful process that requires you to repeat the same steps multiple times. All for the app to disconnect from the institutions in another week or so. I had to learn how to refresh them manually wich ar first was a little difficult. But over all this is a great App for keeping your Finances in check. If you’re looking for a budgeting app that is the complete package, this is it - it has an elegant design (+1–orange is my fave too), a UX that is easy to navigate and customize, for both quick glance features and in-depth info with charts, filters, tags, colors, etc. My personal fave features are the Recurring section where it lists all your monthly recurring income and expenses and shows you a calendar with dots on the days and notifies you in a few days in advance so you’re always prepared. The other is the Create Rule feature that allows you to take a transaction and customize it to automatically have attributes you assign for all future transactions. Say you have a business expense for supplies every few months that you want to tag (label) as business-related and/or as a tax write-off - any time you make this purchase in the future it will now have those tags. You can also edit the merchant name to better match what it reflects and much more. Lastly I recently had to fill out 6 months of profit & loss forms for legal purposes and I used the new AI they’ve implemented to automatically gather the items I specified, itemize them, and give me totals so I could simply plug-in the numbers (after double checking them for accuracy, of course 😉). I know there’s a number of good financial budgeting apps out there right now, but I’m glad I decided to try Monarch and it’s been so helpful with taxes and other legal uses that I’ve decided to keep subscribing at $14.99/month. At times, I wish it were a little cheaper, but when you consider the real-life implications of financial organization (or lack thereof) and how the practicality of an app like this changes the game for those things, the value you get in return is worth a lot more than $14.99 a month. It’s super easy to connect your accounts and track all your purchases. Update: deleting and reinstalling the app seems to have fixed the performance issues for now. I also disabled the AI features. Update: Lately Monarch has been running so bad it’s basically unusable. When I tap on say the transaction review button it’ll take a few seconds to respond, and if I tap it multiple times it’ll open about a dozen of the review screens. That also happens with a lot of other screens also. It’s almost like it’s waiting on a server response. I wish it would do more things locally. It used to be much more responsive. Update: they finally fixed the terrible blue colors! Not that the old colors made it unusable, but it’s much better now. I can’t recommend this software enough! They fixed the Apple Card issue and added a lot of features it was missing!
