Saily: eSIM for travel

Saily connect to vietnamobile in Vietnam. It was useless. Couldn’t get 4G service at all, only LTE. Couldn’t load google maps and even when you did, the search function and panning didn’t work. Bought an Airalo e-sim that used the viettel network and had no issues with service from south to north. I was in contact with support whilst away but there is nothing support can do if you cannot access a 4/5g network! Oh, and you pretty much cannot get the sim activated without using 1% of your plan. Customer service then say, you’ve used more than 1% of your plan so you can’t get a refund. 10gb of wasted money and data. Wish I’d read the reviews here first. Don’t touch them in Asia.

Terrible in Japan. Slow LTE coverage in Tokyo. I tried it for 3 days thinking maybe this is somehow ‘normal’ or I’m doing something wrong. At least a minute to do a google search. So frustrating. This isn’t even the worst part. The customer service. OMG. Live messaging where you get a response 4 hours later. Friendly in tone but content (script) is a concern. I was on with the Manager “Samson Harris”. After some troubleshooting it was determined that there wasn’t any 4G or 5G coverage for where I am and everywhere I’ve been. I.e. all the tourist areas. I asked for a refund and was denied because my phone had somehow managed to use more than 1% of the purchased data. I explained that a product that does not function as advertised requires a refund. By consumer protection laws and common decency/integrity. The response was concerning: “We do not guarantee nor represent that the signal would be 4G or 5G and coverage 100% in all areas: ‘The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee a fault-free Service, and make no warranties regarding network coverage, quality, or availability.’ ”. This message conversation took an hour. The whole experience was scarring. Luckily a cheaper option with Ubigi worked immediately at a good speed. I understand issues occur with business services. Not resolving an issue that makes the service unusable is inexcusable. Stating that it’s not their responsibility is sickening.

I have paid for three plans trying to get this to work. I have contacted their support. I have waisted hours out of my holiday time. My mailbox settings have stopped working. Not at all happy with this product. Waist of time, waist of money! Don’t do it.

The PoS expects you to have an active internet connection at destination before you can activate the data plan. A bit of a chicken before the egg situation. Had to activate expensive international data roaming just so I could activate the plan. Terrible design. Wouldn’t recommend.

I purchased my 3gb plan hoping that I could activate it whenever I need to use it only to find that It automatically activates 30 days after purchase. Tried to see if they could delay the activation for me but they just said no. Very inconvenient, why would they have no option for activating it yourself? You just have to time it out perfectly to coincide with your trip?

Good app but against competition like Airalo it needs to have regional coverage such as Europe. I understand you could create one per the help desk/FAQs section but that is painful! Otherwise good app from trusted provider

Used while travelling in Samoa - was great experience. Initially it did not connect but the online chat with an agent helped adjust network option and off things went. Awesome.

I also used this service in Japan and struggled to have connection all the time I was there! I contacted the customer service and even if they responded pretty quickly, they couldn’t help at all. Definitely not worth the money!

I am using Saily on the Seoul to Busan bikeway and am having all sorts of trouble. It shows 5 bars of connection but no data
