Call landline and mobile phone numbers and send SMS messages anywhere in the world at affordable prices using Skype. Reach non-Skype users or contacts who are not online by choosing Skype Credit or Skype subscriptions.
Choose Skype Credit as a pay-as-you-go option to call and SMS. If you call specific destinations, save even more with monthly subscriptions. Skype subscriptions are monthly calling plans that let you make unlimited, or fixed-minute calls to landlines (and mobiles where applicable). Subscriptions begin at USD 2.99 a month for US and can vary by destination. To make an in-app purchase, open the app, go to the Call tab and tap on the Skype to Phone banner. Skype Credit and Subscriptions purchased from the Skype app will be charged to your iTunes account once the purchase has been confirmed.
Your account will be charged for Skype subscription renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. Your subscription will be renewed automatically unless auto-renewal has been turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period of subscription.
You can manage your subscription by going to your Apple ID account settings and choosing the auto-renewal option or turning it off any time after your purchase.

The updates requests are confusing. Why so many
Good but can fail often on iOS. 17 & 18
I think Skype has become a great alternative to social media based apps, but it lags in reliability on iOS compared to WhatsApp or messenger let alone FaceTime… It constantly ask again and again, even though you’ve authorized on a device. And often is not able to connect in one mode of connection or another. When something has to be reinstalled to work again as frequently Skype, there should be a consideration for better testing. Release on iOS especially.

This is a great affordable way to connect to family abroad who don’t have internet but just home phone lines. Highly recommend!

I have been Skype subscriber for the last 25years I have enjoyed good service over these years Way to Go
New subscription model sucks
Now instead of simply topping up your account if you need to, you have to buy a “subscription” and you have to choose which country you want to call, as the subscription prices are different for each one. Prices vary from $5 per month up to nearly $50!!! And the only way to avoid this is to cancel your subscription after you make a call (or a few calls) if you don’t want it to auto renew a month later. So if you have to make just one call in a month, you have to buy their stupid subscription!! Such a blatant greedy money grab by microsoft. Such an evil corporation headed by a WEF stooge that I’ve always hated, and now I hate it even more. Definitely not going to be buying a subscription; I’m now looking for skype alternatives.
