Training Today constantly monitors your Health Data from Apple Watch to determine your readiness to train (RTT) each day and throughout the day.
Training Today can help you stay safe from overtraining injury or let you know if it’s the best time to work hard, take it easy, or have a rest day.
Developed with British Triathlon Coaches and tested on athletes of varying ability, we have taken a holistic view of your life by using the advanced capabilities of Apple Watch to monitor your health 24hrs a day and process that data to create a simple, accurate readiness to train (RTT) score to help you reach your training goal.
Key Features

* Calculates your readiness to train (RTT) score automatically throughout the day.
* Presents a multi-day chart showing how your score is changing.
* Using the Digital Crown, you can scroll through previous RTT scores on the chart.
* Runs independently on Apple Watch; no need for iPhone to be present.
* iPhone companion app also shows your current RTT score and tutorial.
* Full support for all complications means you can quickly glance at your watch and see your current RTT score at any time.
* We use Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Workout detection and our own algorithm to determine your RTT score.
* Automatic filtering of outlier data (e.g. very larger variances in data)
* Workout detection - we detect when you have completed a workout logged to Apple Health and show it on the chart. Tap the screen when you see one to get details of the workout and better understand the impact on your RTT score.
The following are available in the subscription version:
* Siri support - ask, "Hey Siri, what's my Training Today score?" or "Hey Siri, what's my Training Today RTT?" to see your score and current weekly chart
* Siri shortcuts - get your current Training Today score as input for automation you can create in Apple Shortcuts.
* Apple Watch notifications when your RTT drops by a configured amount compared to your 4-day average.
* View your RTT chart on your iPhone as well as your Apple Watch
* View your complete baseline HRV and RHR (Resting Heart Rate) data in the iPhone app and scroll through Years, Months and the related weekly RTT charts.
* Fine-tune your RTT score using Smoothing and Intensity Settings on your iPhone
* Add widgets to your iPhone home screens and lock screens showing your current RTT score and chart.
* Apple Watch Smart Stack Widget
* Compare your Resting Heart Rate data with your RTT and HRV scores.
* Notifications on Apple Watch when your RTT changes over a configured value compared to your 4-day average.

I've been using this app for a few weeks now to help me monitor my energy levels as I am recovering from Covid. It's been a bit of a challenge for me, as I don't always perceive the signals from my body correctly. Sometimes, I end up pushing myself too hard, and other times, I don't do enough. But with this app, I can see exactly where I stand. Even though it might seem counterintuitive, getting a high score, to me, signifies I need to take it easy and rest up. And when my score is low, and I'm not feeling great, it motivates me to get up and move around. This app is helping me to reconnect to my feelings.

After the most recent update the app disappeared from the Apple Watch. After reinstalling it the value on the Watch display no longer corresponds with the actual value in the app.

Generally in line with my feeling (low HRV and feeling exhausted or fatigued usually yield a low number here), but that is not always the case. I was tempted to think the app could measure more then I observe myself, but then I noticed the numbers on my iwatch-app and on the phone-app are not the same… according to my phone I should right now ‘keep it a little easier’ (HR1-3) while according to my watch I should only engage in ‘very low intensity activity’ (HR1). Clearly cannot put my trust in this! Make up your mind please, and at least sync your algorithms?

Hij synchroniseert heel traag en doet naar mijn inziens niet wat hij moet doen. Ga alleen maar verder achteruit in getallen, wat ik ook doe. Wat vaker synchroniseren zal wellicht helpen!

Fijne hrv-app

De app geeft een mooi overzicht van de hrv gedurende de afgelopen dagen. Jammer dat hij soms een ademhalingsoefening niet in zijn data verwerkt, terwijl deze wel in de gezondheids-app van de iphone terug te vinden is. Hierdoor is de grafiek niet altijd correct. Vandaag nog geen 5-sterren.

Zoals al meerdere aangeven; na een xxl intensieve training geeft de app aan “10!”.. na mn rust dag, goed slapen, mezelf top fit voelen geeft ie n laag cijfer.. voor alle sporters: luister naar je lichaam en niet naar deze app!

Ik heb de gratis versie en ben er nog niet can overtuigd om de rest te unlocken. Wanneer mijn horloge update naar een andere score, laat mijn telefoon heel wat anders zien, ook als ik de app opnieuw opstart. Ik heb nog geen enkele keer dezelfde waarden gezien op beide apparaten. Zoals nu.. Mijn horloge springt naar 9,0 waar mijn telefoon steevast op 7,4 blijft staan.

Possible wrong interpretation of HRV data

App dev’s should be aware that possibly the interpretation of HRV data from Apple Health like this app does, is approached way too simple: using HRV data and translate this to 0-10 score is absolutely not the same as giving advice about a person’s state of recovery in relation to HRV at that time AND what should be the right timing for increasing intensity (again) by exercise for that matter! Probably the advice about wether to recover or increase intensity could be exactly the opposite: in other words: when HR variation is low, increasing intensity by exercise could possibly have a positive effect in HRV values, because how your nervous system and heart rate responds post-exercise is very complex. I used this app for a couple of weeks or so and as stated above (feeling ready for higher intensity by exercising, when score is surprisingly low) is exactly my experience as well. So imho, be careful about giving advice about timing for amount of intensity and I suggest you’d use some scientific resources to redefine the app’s conclusions, because state of recovery is way more complex than just HRV; for example take period of heart frequency decrease right after exercise into account as well! (Data also available from the Health app) Good luck!
