Wingspan: The Board Game

Hey all good, game is 5*. You can see that it is iPad first, but its still fine, sometimes buttons are small. but the bug that the game logs you off when you put the app in background drives me nuts! and the login animation is SO. LONG.

Almost every time I play on-line matchmaking, somebody leaves or fails to play a turn within 5 minutes. It is very frustrating to have to wait 5 minutes just not to be able to finish the game with human players. What is even worse is the fact, that even though you finish the game with bots, you still do not get karma, so the whole cycle repeats and you have NO chance getting higher on the board. I love this game very much, but on-line with unknown players just suck. Let people gain karma even if somebody else leaves, when you finish the game and it is sorted! Also, why can`t I play online matchmaking with two players, only three? Such an easy mode to add with so much upside. Also on iPad game frequently crashes - sometimes out of blue, sometimes when you tap end-of-round goals or when you check another player`s board. The game itself is great, but those things make it very unenjoyable.

i’ve been introduced to this game as a board physical version and ever since that day i couldn’t stop playing <3 i’ve downloaded an ipad version and am wingspanning as my morning and before bed relaxing ritual. thank you, creators

On of my most favourite board games!

I like the game, but I played like 10+ multiplayer games and we only finished like 2. Every other game was abandoned by someone. The problem is that I don’t get karma for not finishing the game = I’m stuck forever on Karma 3 playing with people who always leave.

I really wanted to enjoy the Wingspan app, but the online play is a complete mess. Matches often disconnect or fail to load entirely, making it nearly impossible to enjoy a full game with friends. These issues have been around for a long time, yet the developer seems uninterested in addressing them. Instead of fixing critical bugs, they focus on other updates that don’t improve the overall experience. For an app with such potential, it’s disappointing to see such poor support. Save your money until they fix the basics.

My family is made of huge fans, with one caveat. It’s a great game overall, fun, challenging and educational. Unfortunately the designers got too fancy with the Oceania expansion, and instead of just adding fair birds and bonus cards, they changed gameplay entirely. The nectar thing and some of the ridiculous bird powers is just massive inflation that removes strategy, makes most original birds obsolete, and is not sufficiently balanced by reducing the egg count. Scores go from 90s being a very good score to painfully middle of the road. It’s like baseball in the Steroids era. Not sure why the designers thought a successful game needed a radical design. I am now an expansion pack skeptic going forward

I love playing wingspan board game when I have friends or family here. When I don’t have anyone close this is a great alternative, I play both with bots and with my son’s who also have the on line version. I have not found many errors in the game. The only curious part is when a round goal is for total number of birds on your board, the bots amounts sometimes goes up and down…. That is not possible in the actual game for the total number of birds to go down, but it doesn’t affect really affect my game with them.

I have a family sharing account and my family has been trying to download it, but all of them are saying they will get charged $9.99… looking for help to resolve this.

I have been a big fan of the Wingspan board game for a while and purchased the app version to enjoy with my partner while away from home. The game play is great and really maintains the charm and beauty of the original game. The music is lovely and the sound effects are peaceful and enjoyable. Oftentimes when switching a board game to a digital medium you have a hard time making the game navigable on a screen. A board game gives you lots of visual access to information that can either be lost on a screen, or make the screen too busy to understand. The developers of the digital game have done a great job toeing the line between providing visual information and making the game navigable. Overall, this app is a really enjoyable rendition of the game, and the long distance game play has been hugely entertaining.
