Can’t change unlock time in app
After setting up the time the door stays unlocked for on setting up a new device, there’s nowhere in the app to adjust this time, which you do need to do because the Auto Unlock is finicky and can sometimes unlock when you’re still walking to your door, so then it locks again when you reach the door. We don’t want to have to clear and setup the lock again just to change this. Also there seems to be no function to add the key cards if using the app, there is no way to add them and this would also be useful.
Very convenient
The lock is extremely convenient and the ability to invite users via the app is excellent. The only complaint that I have is that there is no way to check the battery levels via the app until they actually need replacing.
Downgrade gone backwards
Having used Yale for a while now we upgraded to a new Yale unity lock. This comes with the Yale home app. We'll talk
About making a premium app feel cheap and nasty.
The app user experience is terrible
-you tap on your home and tap the hamburger menu and you get stuck in a loop Going back to the screen showing your home. (Home Screen)
- we started getting low battery warnings in our first month of use. I replaced them before going away on a holiday, opening the app there is no battery level indicator. In fact it asks you to confirm that you replaced the batteries. Where the previous app showed you the battery level this one doesn't seem to know until it thinks you're less than 10% left. This was odd as they were also brand new batteries.
- you tap on the home setup to view the lock, this screen wobbles left and right at the touch. There's no reason for this screen to scroll left and right but it does and feels weird. It's like it's a webpage.
- tapping the hamburger menu in the home setup view seems to show options. The Home Screen view takes you in a weird loop. Terrible user experience
- firmware version is shown but no option to check if there's new firmware the old app had this working well
- the new app feels like a wrapper around a website and not a proper iOS app.
- it works with HomeKit but does not show the door status in HomeKit. Only in the Yale app
- talking with support to try and work out how to fix these issues is back and forth and they totally dismiss the problems with the app
Support for Home Key in Wallet
Pretty good app overall. I use with a Yale Unity Entrance Lock and primarily in HomeKit.
It would be great if it could be updated to support Home Keys in Apple Wallet.
Yale
Very good and very easy to setup and use, 1 thing should be an option, especially for the elderly who dont have a smartphone, to have the led light showing if it lock or unlock ie red for lock and green for unlock, would be really good could u consider of have it and option
Not a software company
App is laggy. Sometimes we stand outside for up to a minute waiting for the app to sync with the lock. Our Telstra router is only 4 meters away and Yale hub only two metres away line of sight. Geolocation works 10% of the time. My family all have late model iPhones, so there should be no excuses for app’s unreliable performance.
Yale is not a software company. It’s a hardware company and it shows with this flakey app and their ‘digital’ locks. Steer clear and get a digital lock from a software company
Waste of time and money
Everything was working perfectly with my original, Yale Assure Lock. After updating the app, nothing works to tall. It won’t recognise my serial number customer service asked me to call them, and the lock is rendered utterly useless. I will never buy Yale again. I have sent an email and I am expecting a full refund for the useless product for which used to work and now it’s just a very heavy table weight attached to my door.
Update November 2023: tried to use the August app which is the module manufacturer and they only operate in US and Canada but don’t tell you that!! Then when I’ve tried AGAIN to register the lock on Yale Home app I can’t use my telephone number because its LOCKED TO AN ACCOUNT that crosses Assa Abloy and August registered account for me?? I’m hoping someone will reply to the email…..
Needs a complete overhaul
Our experience with the Yale Home app is very poor. We spent so much money on this smart lock at the Apple Store that was sold as a wireless solution. Turns out it only does Bluetooth and Apple HomeKit when an AppleTV is also installed nearby but that’s not enough to change codes or add new ones remotely, which was the whole point of buying this “wireless solution” in the first place. So we had to fork out more money to also buy the Yale Bridge. Even though the bridge is installed right near the lock, and shows strong signal reception, the connection is not reliable. Every now and then the Airbnb integration doesn’t auto-generate entry codes and we have to manually check and set them up and apologise to our guests for PINs not being sent to them. When trying to remove a user PIN, it takes 1-2 minutes of waiting until the PIN is removed from the lock. When changing the temporary access period, e.g. when a guest wants to check in early, Yale erroneously upon sending the change from the app to the lock removes the entire user account – again after “thinking” about it for 1-2 minutes. So then I have to manually configure the user and PIN all over again. Overall this app is very buggy and requires a total overhaul by app developers that actually know what they are doing. Very very poor for the amount we paid.
Excellent lock
Convenient, easy to use
Remote access via the internet
I love the fact that the smart lock can add people via the internet.
Would like to see a Battery Level indicator in the APP
