Proton Drive: Cloud Storage

Thank you for your work. An excellent application for secure file sharing and storage. It would be great if you could upload an unlimited number of photos instead of 10 at a time. It would also be great to see an icloud/Google Photo analog for automatically uploading photos from the device to an encrypted cloud. P.S. And the last thing. Please return the Proton VPN app to the AppStore 🙏. Your new protocol perfectly resists Russian censorship.

Too many inconsistency issues end-to-end. Software is not ready for long-term adoption, only for occasionally passing temporary files. I’ve shared all this to Support but the Support person (maybe using generative AI?) was repeatedly confusing the issue with EXIF metadata (which is NOT the point here) so I had to give up on Proton Drive and not turn back. 1) I won’t use Proton Drive until we can have files doing a full round trip from macOS Finder to macOS Proton Drive to the web (browser-based) to iOS Proton Drive, and back to macOS Finder out of Proton, with metadata correctly preserved. Currently, from macOS Finder to macOS Proton Drive, file Creation date is overwritten with upload date (wrong!). Then Modified Date is correct on browser-based Proton Drive, but on iOS/iPadOS it is replaced with upload date (wrong again!). This doesn’t happen with iCloud Drive, where file attributes are preserved end-to-end across devices, and files can do a round trip in and out of iCloud Drive without metadata alteration. This shouldn’t happen with Proton if we want to consider it for long-term personal storage (other than just a temporary utility for casually passing misc files to other people). 2) After you delete a folder or files in web-based Proton Drive, they won’t disappear in iOS/iPadOS app (even if you drag to refresh), requiring instead users to go into Settings and clear local cache. This is confusing and unmanageable long-term with a large file collection. You can’t just spend time wondering if what you’re seeing in iOS is really what is there in actual storage, it should be consistent by default and as a core feature. 3) On a lighter note, a display issue on iPhone (not on iPad though) as it won't rotate to landscape mode when browsing the directories and rotating the iPhone. This is a problem with long file names. We also need to adjust compacity because there's much wasted white space in directory lists.

Cette application fonctionne très bien. La nouvelle fonctionnalité de backup des photos est bien pensée car elle va récupérer les photos dans icloud photos même si le stockage utilise la fonction optimisée d’Apple et que la photo n’est pas présente physiquement dans l’iPhone. Merci pour cette maj.

Impossible d’afficher mes photos stockées dans Proton Drive sur Vision Pro. J’hésite à passer sur un service concurrent.

Je souhaite partager mon expérience préoccupante avec l'équipe de support de Proton. Récemment, j'ai essayé de créer un compte en utilisant mon e-mail habituel, mais je n'ai pas pu. Ce qui est particulièrement alarmant, c'est le délai de réponse incroyablement long du support. Il semble que, tant que vous n'avez pas un abonnement actif, votre demande ne soit tout simplement pas une priorité. Mais ce n’est pas tout. Le support, après plusieurs tentatives infructueuses pour créer mon compte, a fini par m’oublier. Une semaine plus tard, après avoir relancé moi-même, ils m'ont finalement informé que leur "politique de sécurité" ne permettait pas la création d'un compte avec mon e-mail actuel et m'ont suggéré de créer un nouvel e-mail pour contourner le problème. Choqué par cette médiocrité, j'ai envoyé un autre e-mail exprimant mon insatisfaction tout en restant courtois, demandant un nouvel interlocuteur capable de résoudre le problème. Quelques heures plus tard, au lieu de recevoir une réponse utile, j'ai reçu un e-mail de sondage de satisfaction : mon ticket avait été clôturé sans aucune solution. C'est alarmant de constater qu'une entreprise, surtout dans le domaine de la cyber-sécurité, puisse ignorer ainsi ses clients et traiter leurs préoccupations avec une telle négligence. Je recommande vivement de reconsidérer toute interaction avec cette entreprise, car leur service client laisse énormément à désirer. Soyez prudents !

Super app qui est un bon complément à Proton Mail. On croise les doigts pour que Proton fasse une app Proton Drive iMessage pour étendre les possibilités de l'app !
