Over reliance on gestures makes this a pain to work with
I want to like this because it isn’t another one of 1000 “subscriptions” and is a one time purchase. Big fan of this, but the user experience is a huge let down. Palm detection is bad: there is seemingly no differentiation between pencil and finger, meaning simple stuff like scaling proportionally becomes a nightmare as the app tries to figure out if you’re zooming, panning, or doing all at once, leading it to freak out. God help you if you’re trying to move/select all the elements in a layer. I still won’t know how to do it.
There is also no way to create actual compound shapes. Booleans are a start, but they keep the masking/additive elements “alive” for you to randomly accidentally move. Frustrating.
I would steer clear to avoid tearing your hair out trying to do simple things.
App error
So far I’ve loved the app, it was easy to use and gave great results.
That was until I tried to export the file. I can export it fine as a PDF but no other file type will work. The app crashes whenever I choose another file type.
Sad thing is, I’ve spent over a week on my design and need a file with a transparent background. Obviously that’s impossible with a PDF. Over a week wasted for nothing.
Better than you’d think
Until now I’ve generally been disappointed with vector graphics apps on iOS. Fine I’m sure on a big screen iPad Pro but on a 9.7” iPad the interface takes up most of the space and I for one don’t like drawing on postage stamps.
Amadine however is a powerful and under judged graphics application coming in at a slim size with minimal interface intrusion. I just get it. Which is more than can be said for several of the competitors in this important segment.
There are a few rough edges and things which just stop working for no reason but still It’s the best vector app out there. This is from someone who started on Illustrator on Mac and has been through and paid for most of the rest. Isometric grid would be useful along with some more keyboard shortcuts like Command-B for Bold, not seen an app without that one.
Give Amadine a try it’s a lot more powerful and intuitive than you might think. It’s also from Ukraine which needs all the help it can get.
Speechless 🤬
Literally that was the best vector editor on iPhone, until the last update. Finally getting option to save work for later… Okay, great… But without being able to export work in any resolution for free? People, how dare you? Previously I could export 4800x4800 px png file, I can’t do it now even with 72ppi res. Shame on you!

Not for me
It’s difficult to use and the eraser tool does not do what is expected. The pencil tool can be a little confusing and I can’t wrap my head around the other 5 confusing tools. It bring me straight to my files when making a canvas, which I also found confusing.
I would not recommend for someone who wants something similar to pencil on paper.
Nothing much either way
Seems ok to use, but offers very little although it isn’t exactly difficult to understand.
Lines
It’s more intuitive than Vectornator, but a quality-of-life change would be nice I.e. when moving the position of lines, let us see the lines to make it easier to know what it will look like, instead of only letting us see the anchor-vector-hook-thingys in the middle of the drawn line.
Hard to use
I saw the ads for this app and it looked great but it is confusing and hard to use. I don’t really understand how to use it but if you get you might have a different experience.
Not the best
So I got this app because I was looking for some drawing apps.
When I opened the app it sort of looked like the Apple app Files.
I thought it was a bit harsh to only allow one drawing (document) for the free version. I wont be getting the paid version because I’m not really into vector drawing.
