Once the best, now the worst.

SuperSimoholic on

I will have to pay to export all my files because exporting is suddenly behind a paywall. I have no way to get these files that I spend MONTHS on without paying. This is extortion. It’s like the owners want the app to fail.

Betrayed. Avoid. No loyalty to their user base.

Tiptb on

Used this once amazing software for around 2 years, recommended to many others, and then they moved to a very expensive subscription model. No option for a one-off purchase to long time users, and they are holding my work hostage as I cannot export. It’s MY work! They can take a running jump. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. They screw over their users.

No longer great!

This used to be a great app, I really enjoyed it, but they have gradually been removing features from the free version until it has become unusable without subscribing. When they first introduced this it was only a cloud storage option which you didn’t have to use if you didn’t want to. They’ve now made it so you can’t store any of your artwork locally, so you have to subscribe. You also can’t even export your own artwork without paying, luckily I hadn’t used it for a while and already had my work saved somewhere else, but I’ve now given up on the app completely. I’d have been more than happy to buy the app in a one off payment, but I don’t use it enough to justify a monthly subscription. All very ironic given that what drew me to this app in the first place (and I’m sure I’m not the only one!) was not wanting to pay the exorbitant monthly subscription fees demanded by their far more (in)famous rival…

Buggy Scam

Anonymous iPhone 6 on

Falsely you into an expensive subscription, then many of the features don’t work right. Avoid this terrible company.

“Free” - it’s a free trial + subscription-based

eladray on

- Forced to buy subscription to export your images - $99.99/year, $12.99/month subscription model - 3 “free” files limit, but again, pay the sub to export - everything is cloud based, no local storage

Completely ruined

Vectornator was great, now this app is not even worth downloading - completely useless.

I used this program 3 years, recommended it for another people as it simple and can work on iPad which I can take always with me. But I hate any subscription and never buy anything. I can pay full amount for program for forever but not will not pay for something every month, unfortunately in this program now you even can’t save your project without subscription so it’s absolutely useless now, they offer you to make 3 projects but even if you can’t save for any vector format only like a small pictures

Curve

Brilliant app just not worth the monthly subscription when there are cheaper ones out there that do exactly the same thing as curve

Where's the free Vectornator that was promised? Monthly charge makes it not worthwhile.

Anon reviewer. on

It useed to be an amazing tool and is ad free, but then it changed to force you to put your files in the cloud (why? there's no benefit) and to limit you to only 3 files unless you pay the monthly charge. Developer promised to make the original version (called Vectornator) available but it's not on the developer website or App Store. The change of name to Curve makes it less distinct and harder to remember. It won't even open any SVGs once you hit the 3 file limit. There's confusing wording on the licensing that seems to restrict what you can do with the files made in the free version, for those of us that made public domain files that's a problem because others could use them commercially - please clarify if we can make public domain content with the free version. Contrast of certain tools could be improved - it doesn't meet web accessibility AIM standards, for example the move tool when not in use - look to the bottom right for a grey circle to find it. It can really take time to learn because the phone interface isn't as good and having snap to grid on by default drives me crazy. Where do I find the original Vectornator?

Great but struggling with IOS app crashes and glitches

milesholt on

It's a great app, but there are a lot of features I would love to have for the price of the Pro version. For a professional version, I would expect more features such as batch export with more options, especially when exporting to PDF (like converting to CMYK for print-ready files). The main issue I have at the moment with it though, is when working with vector points on my iPad. When selecting a point, sometimes it will change the anchor without me intending to, and it keeps glitching and moving all the points around. To resolve it I have to keep restarting the app, which is very time consuming. Another problem is when I use two-finger pinch to zoom out, it sometimes recognises that as double tap, and undoes a change instead, without me realising. This has been happening a lot and it's really frustrating. I know app development isn't easy, especially when catering for a lot of devices, so I really hope these bugs can be resolved for the next update. Other than that, there's a lot of great features and it's a good app overall, especially for beginners and those looking to work with vectors on an iPad Pro, and as an affordable alternative to Adobe products.
