Description

Designed by Moog Music, the world’s first synth company, Animoog Z is an inspiring 16-voice polyphonic synthesizer that invites you to explore new concepts of multidimensional sound design and performance.

Powered by Moog’s Anisotropic Synth Engine (ASE), Animoog Z empowers you to visually traverse new sonic universes and even create your own! ASE utilizes a novel orbit system to expand the concepts of wavetable and vector synthesis, allowing you to navigate dynamically through the X, Y, and Z axes of sound. Spontaneous sound design with Animoog Z is easy—simply select and drag the orbit path to explore endless sonic configurations.

Animoog Z captures the immediate and intuitive experience of Moog synthesizers and applies it to the modern digital paradigm, enabling you to quickly sculpt incredibly fluid sounds that live, breathe, and evolve as you play. Use Animoog Z’s built-in keyboard to control pitch and pressure per voice (or send MIDI out), or connect your favorite MPE controller and explore Animoog Z’s MPE-compliant sound engine.

Animoog’s diverse library of timbres includes digital tones and spectral sources alongside analog waveforms recorded from classic Moog circuits. If you ever run out of sounds, you can use the built-in Timbre Editor to record and edit your own timbres!

Visually captivating and sonically immersive, Animoog Z brings music production to the next level. Whether you are new to synthesis or a professional musician, Animoog’s unique user interface gives you the power to easily create a visually vibrant and sonically rich universe.

Key Features:

• Multiplatform Experience: Share presets, timbres, and in-app purchases across your compatible Apple devices.

• Anisotropic Synth Engine (ASE): An exciting Moog technology that allows you to move through the X, Y, and Z axes of unique timbres to create an expressive and constantly evolving soundscape. Sonic modulations are visualized in real time, providing a multisensory feedback mechanism for sound creation.

• Polyphonic Modulation and Pitch Shifting: Control Animoog Z's advanced touch surface keyboard with configurable scales, key distances, pitch correction, and glide. Simply slide your fingers to control multiple per-voice parameters in Animoog Z right from the keys.

• Timbre Editor: Go beyond simple sample playback and build unique sounds that evolve in multi-dimensional space. Select from a wide variety of built-in timbres or customize your sound by recording your own timbres (or import your own WAV files).

• ENV/LFO Page: Articulate your dynamics with 3 independent six-stage DAHDSR envelopes for Amp, Filter, and Mod, each with loop and sync functionality. Give motion to your sound with 3 independent LFOs featuring continuously variable wave shapes, phase offset, delayed start, sync, and support for 1-8 repeats.

• MOD Page: Highly flexible modulation matrix with 10 lanes and a multitude of sources, controllers, and destinations—including global destinations like Delay and Thick. Use the Solo and Enable controls to explore complex modulations layer by layer.

• Effects Page: A collection of dynamic sound-altering and sound-augmenting effects with Delay, Chorus, Bitcrush, Filter, Arpeggiator, and Looper. Oscilloscope-style views display the output and impact of your effects.

• MIDI: Use your favorite MIDI controller to control Animoog Z (with full support for MPE input) or go MIDI out to use Animoog Z's highly expressive keyboard to control your favorite instruments. Go even deeper with Animoog Z's exhaustive MIDI CC mapping system featuring MIDI Learn, multiple destinations for a single CC, and detailed control of which presets are loaded with program change.

• Additional Features: Backwards compatibility with presets and timbres from the original Animoog, AUv3 support, 440Hz base frequency offset (+/- 10Hz), preset tagging, preset sharing, Global BPM, Tap Tempo, Ableton Link, keyboard typing and shortcuts, random presets, and undo/redo.

Great machine

Paid for full access yesterday and can’t put it down. Amazing to have classic Moog sounds for next to nothing on my iPad. Definitely recommend buying.

5 stars once the GarageBand ‘share/export’ bug fixed pls.

This synth is also usable as an effect - must be, because I have it inserted in a garageBand effects list for a drumkit. The issue: in GB iOS/iPadOS to make a stereo file export from a song, there’s a weird process whereby you pick ‘share’ in the first GB screen where the files show up, and then get to the point where GB ‘compiles’ a stereo file from that song…However, if during that process ANY Audio Unit shows up as not totally as expected, GB will throw an error message eg ‘AU unit failed to load during share - continue or cancel?’ All that Animoog Z has done, is to take almost a second of time, the FIRST time it loads, before throwing graphics onto the GB main screen, when you are in the DAW/song editor screen of your song. I believe this is the thing GB is not tolerant of, on my iPad Pro M1 12.9” device. I have over a Tb of free SSD and also 16Gb complement of RAM. I was strict in my fault-finding - it is this Animoog z used as an effect that does this. I deleted several Audio Units one at a time, to figure which one it was, then restored Animoog Z to the same track FX list it was causing the error msg from, and once again the error was given. I am sure it will be fixed - it’s not a fault during use, but when used as an effect, the slow-load first-time is not tolerable in the iPad Pro. Possibly, it’s less tolerant on a faster iPad, ie clock cycles roll by more quickly…so if Garageband uses clock cycles to count by to see if an AUv3 is ‘slow’ instead of actual time, a faster ipad is less tolerant of slow-loading. It’s taken an hour to do the fault-finding, for which I wholly look to Apple, as it could just make GB spit out the name of the AUv3 in the first place. ! Anyway, I only use GB and only on iPadOS, so I cannot use this Moog unit, in a song until this is fixed, but it’s no biggie.

Great app with amazing sounds!

Even on the freeware version I’ve got, this does so much more than any of the synth units I could afford to use. A lot of fun to use & easy to get a wide range of very different sounds out of. Looking forward to plugging in & using with Ableton Link.

Great: note the in app link to the manual has stopped working. Animoog info has gone.

Stanleytrader27 on

Still a firm favourite on iOS. Wanted to check something out re changing patches while not retaining all features (one of the patch randomisation features of Animoog) as it doesn’t seem to be working properly, check the manual. Manual no longer there… is this because of Moog’s recent troubles?

This synth is Drone music making heaven. Even in just the free version it’s incredibly capable and has such an organic life of its own…. I Love it! Fortunately my birthday is coming up in July and my missus is going to buy it for me 😊 Top app Animoog 👍

I HAVE BRAIN DAMAGE

Animated, Visual Audio mooged out

DougFDO on

Serious piece of kit, this is. Peactically hands-on with low mid and high frequency oscillators that rspond instantly! Possibilities inspiration. Genius re-inented, algorythms and brilliant tweaks, twists, peaks and troughs - all schematically moving, indicating via colour, speed, note, sound or sample what is happening to the soundwaves - in real time. This is like working on a secret NASA project to make contact with aliens. Top marks, developers, designersc and creative/tech nuts behind this outrageously interactive, inventive, reactive 'synth'. Easy to start with hidden depths that will surprise even the most waxed up plugged-in ears with a new level of exploration. Animated Mood. Animoog.

Where is my original Animoog?

Appalachik on

Purchased the MIDI update this week for my Original Animoog, which I’ve owned for years… and I am very unhappy that it has vanished from my available synth apps and is no longer even available to re-download. This is dreadful business practice and I either want it restored or a full and immediate refund please.

A few days in!
