Simple but powerful Japanese-English, English-Japanese dictionary app.
The app's features include:
● Over 170.000 dictionary entries with readings and english meaning
● Over 6.500 kanji characters with stroke order
● Over 730.000 Japanese names, place names and institution names
● Over 147.000 example sentences with translation
● Instantaneous search results
● Character input by kanji and kana handwriting recognition. Recognition algorithm can handle wrong stroke order and small mistakes.
● When multiple similar characters are found, you don't need to redo drawing after each character - just long press to see a preview
● Search by kanji radicals (for example 日 and 月 will find 明)
● Wildcard search - "*" can replace any number of characters and "?" can replace any single character. Works both with English and Japanese words.
● Search by kanji, kana and romaji - "じしょ", "じsho" and "jisho" will give the same search results
● Kanji lists by JLPT level and school grade (1 - 6)
● Multiple word lists divided by subject, grammatical function, JLPT level and more

My favorite dictionnary 🫶 the kanji search (by writting them by hand) is super useful and there is verb inflections and many more things 10/10

Most complete dictionary in the App Store
This was the dictionary which accompanied me learning Japanese from 0 to N2, during the five years I did my masters and PhD in Japan. It is the most comprehensive dictionary I have found so far, including slangs and popular sayings, and has greatly helped me communicate with my friends and to give technical presentations on my field.
Massive help
Used this alot from when I started immersing with 0 japanese to now being able to converse in japanese fully. I still use this everyday.
A perfect app. Invaluable.
This app has done wonders for me. it has everything I need and (almost) everything I want. The only 2 things I want are: - a way to give the dev money (seriously! even to donate!) - A widget that shows a random example sentence on my homepage every specified interval that i can read while flipping into different apps Thanks so much for this app - without it I would say learning Japanese would be taking me twice as long as it has been.
Perfect for basic-intermediate learners
I've used this app for years and no other dictionary has been able to beat it. The app is simple and can be used without an internet connection. It's really helpful if you have some grasp of Japanese grammar and need to improve your vocabulary. You can make flashcards with the words you've looked up and study them. It also has many pre-made decks. I think the word-to-word translations could use some help, but that's an issue I've seen with many dictionaries. It's just hard to translate that Japanese nuance into English. But the app offers many example sentences that can help with that.
