Ate Food Diary Reviews

No Free Version

I used to use this app off and on for years. It was never really that great but I liked the visual interface and being able to take pictures of my meals. I just logged in to find out that I no longer have access to any of my past data and I have to pay for a subscription. There is no longer any free option. I intensely dislike being forced to pay for a product that has already taken my information. I have deleted the app. Very sorry to lose my data history.

Worth every penny

I never leave reviews but this app deserves it. I’ve struggled with eating disorders since 2012 and this app is the first app that actually helps me stay mindful with my food intake without triggering my disordered ways. Thank you developers for this amazing app!

So easy to use! 😍

sigidsgn on

Tried many food journaling apps before, but this is the easiest one to use by far. 👍 Definitely the best use of the Lock Screen widgets I have seen. I set it up to show me the last time I ate and to take me to the camera screen when I tap on it. Love it! 😍 Did I mention that it’s also a beautiful app! It’s a joy to open it up and look back on my meals everyday. Can’t wait to see what they release next. It has definitely been a game changer for me. I usually don’t subscribe to apps, but this one is well worth it! Happy to support a team that puts so much energy into supporting their users on their journeys! Thank you! 🙏

Nice Food Journal

It does what it does really well. For me it just doesn’t do enough to justify $8/mo. If they added more functionality it would definitely be worth it but as it is when I compare to other subscriptions I have this is about a $3-4/mo app. Hopefully they will beef up the functionality without raising the price. Then I’ll be a supporter.

No longer free

This was free for years and now requires a subscription even to access your old logs. Deleting this app and moving on to the other free alternatives.

Makes it so easy to track my meals and workouts 💪🏾

And to see the connection between them. I was looking for something that was easy to use on a regular basis. This app rocks!🥳 I use the Lock Screen widgets for quick capture and the Apple health integration to track my workouts with my watch. Love seeing all of them come together on the timeline in the app. Definitely the best implementation of a food journal I have seen! (And I tried a few!) On the second day of the free trial I already new that I will be keeping this one! 😍 Currently I am experimenting with a low carb, keto like approach to my diet, and it works great for that too. Just added some custom questions, and it works great!

An awesome food journal

beaubarebones on

Ate is such an awesome app. I can customize it however I want and it doesn’t prompt me with any calorie or macro counting (which I guess you could set it up for macros if that’s what you are trying to do). As some people have mentioned it’s a paid app. But it has been so beneficial for me it’s worth it! It’s such a simple food journal but it helps me stay consistent and focused on what I’m trying to do. An unexpected benefit for me is that I figured out foods that flare skin issues and give me digestion problems, which is not the reason I started to use it. I couldn’t even believe it! I recommend Ate to all my friends and family I think it would be beneficial for. Highly recommend it!!

Deceptive

TheyMakeYouRateThem on

United States

This app isn’t, in any way, free. They’re using a that classically deceptive “free trial” business model. Wherein you can test drive the app for a few days only AFTER adding a payment method.
