Got 2 of the August Smart Locks from Amazon for both my wooden & metal grill (retrofitting of grill required) and it arrived within 3 working days. The only thing that is required is a Special Permit from SIRIM, the local governing body. The initial setup has to be done via the August App. Limited range here as it uses Bluetooth. For an almost infinite range, both locks engage and disengage (almost instantaneously) via HomeKit — and this is an invaluable investment and time saving feature for those living in apartments and residences here in Malaysia!
I try to register an account in Brunei country phone number ,its prefix number format incorrect.
Every day, it makes me sign in and enter a passcode it texts me despite never logging out. Really takes the convenience out of it.
After years of mostly seemless working, one of my locks started being unresponsive in HomeKit but not August app. I removed the accessory from HomeKit but current version of app crashes when trying to enable HomeKit for lock.
Dont buy unless the developer fix the widget
an updated functional widget is long overdue
After iOS 18 they removed the widget to unlock from your Lock Screen. August just blames Apple on their website. Saying legacy widgets are not supported. You are a “smart” technology manufacturer. Write new code and update your “smart” technology!!! Pathetic. Can not recommend.
Can’t log in, can’t reset password, can’t get in touch with online on the phone and they keep asking how they’re doing (3x)! They’re terrible! Do not trust them with your security or anything. Bad tech all around.
