Best Audio-Midi-App for iOS

stgisler on

Switzerland

For me, AUM is the best audio mixer app since it has been on the market. As soon as I play with music apps, I use AUM as my basic app. With AUM I don't need a hardware mixer, an audio/midi interface is enough. The app is absolutely top-notch and I don't know of any iOS app that offers these possibilities with such an appealing and intuitive design. I've been making music with iPads since 2011 and for me AUM is the best music app ever when it comes to audio mixing and midi. Every external interface is also available. Audio, Ableton-Link, Midi-Sync, Midi (Bluetooth, Network etc.) and multi-track recording directly in Audio-Share. I only use a special midi app to be able to change certain midi configurations during a live performance, as it's not practical to change aum-sessions during a performance.

Multiple External Sound Devices did not work on my system

appclusive on

Switzerland

I purchased this app to be able to route audio from one external device to another external device. While I could see both devices in the settings menu, I was unable to successfully select a different external device for input and output. This only worked when I used the built in microphone as an input device. For me this app is of no use, as this was my primary and only use case. I would have liked to use a trial version before, but I could not find one. This app might be great to others. But unfortunately not for me. I would like to get a refund on the app if possible. Thank you for your understanding. Information on my setup in case someone wants to reproduce this: Output Sound Devices MixPre-6 II battery powered. Input Roland SP-404 MK II battery powered. Connection through a USB hub that in turn connects via USB-C to the iPad Pro. Both devices have a USB-C port which I connected in both possible combinations to the hub (USB-A / USB-C). Depending on the order I plugged in the devices I was able to select either of them as the output. But I never was able to select the SP-404 MKII as the input. Hope this review helps others that would like to achieve a similar setup.

Reinstalled it and lost all my sessions. Beware. It’s saves only audio files, not the session. Can you believe this in 2020. Weak developers. All my work lost. This app is just nice toy, go for Cubasis if you want real work done.

Stunning!

I didn’t know you could do so much with an ipad. Far better than audiobus. The ability to mix everything, being able to create sends and control everything with midi... That makes tablets a more than decent alternative to laptops performing live electronics! Best 20 bucks I spent!

Great!

A bit more complex than audiobus 2-builds on the same idea, but adds a mixer, a keyboard and some complex routing/bus options.works stable and with most apps I use (ca.20). For the output part, it might require for some apps again audiobus- what i really love is the keyboard, can now play multi-timbral sounds based on a couple of synths, that run in parallel. It needs a bit of power, so not a thing for ipad generation 1. Otherwise brilliant and very stable and responsive, extends audiobus in a clever way.

Excellent!

This was already my top favorite audio app and in the latest version it got even better. Best mixer for iOS available on the app store. It's an incredible tool for anyone making music or sound design on the iOS platform. And the developer is very responsive too! Highly recommended.

App no longer saves plugin settings

An entire day of work lost when I reopened the file and EVERYTHING had default/init settings. Use at your own risk.

Not one app should have all that power!

This right here is the center-point for music production on iOS. I’ve recorded and made music on a lot formats, software and hardware, and AUM is on my top 3 lists of favorite music tools ever.

Absolutely great.

Musicians and music creators of all kinds have different needs, some will use it to perform live, some will use it to record but this mixer is truly a Swiss Army Knife for total music app alchemy it is definitely much more than a mixer and every time I use it I discover something new about it that surprises me. I think it’s a fantastic app.
