Canary Mail Reviews

Random unread status

Sometimes it cannot detect if emails were already read and still shows as unread. But when you do a filter nothing show up. To fix this I need another email app.

Doesn’t even work on the iPad

shiauann on

Doesn’t even display the message body, every message on the message pane is just empty. Keyboard shortcuts are so finicky on the iPad, they rarely work and there’s no pattern why it doesn’t work suddenly.

Sync accounts does not work

Over priced

Tried the trial version but all I can say is that it is no better than the other free email apps out there. Nothing so unique about it that they want to charge so much for the pro version. Although I must say that I like their layout better than the rest. Very pleasing to The Eye. Would have definitely got the pro version if it wasn’t so expensive

Got to Pay for each platform individually

Just purchased macOS Canary for $29. Was surprised, and somewhat disgusted too, that we have to fork out similar amount for iOS version.

Could be better

I really thought this would be the ultimate mail client. Sadly, it’s not. I can add calendars to Canary, but I can’t convert emails into calendar events. For that, I have to return to Apple Mail. Emails still appear in inbox after archiving them. They also don’t sync between devices so I end up having to archive the same email repeatedly. I do like that emails are grouped by today, yesterday, this week, and this month. There’s also pinned emails. Helps with prioritizing which emails need to be processed first.

PGP doesn’t work with mailbox.org

I love this app, up until just before updating to v3.01 on 2019 OCT 03, specifically for the PKI support. After updating, mine became trial version and then I have to pay more for a pro upgrade. Pro features provided are not really what I would like to pay for. I thought there’s gonna be a multiselect and mark-as-read feature at least. I’d seriously welcome key importing from a key server or pasting ASCII armored text, in a pro version. And Key Manager is too hard to find. And “clear password” option was not offered for one of my private keys. After update, I had to import my keys again. Setting default key was not intuitive as I have to press the choice for a number of times before I realize it has to be tapped again to change the selection. It was not clear what would happen after trial period if I didn’t choose to buy pro, as in, “pro trial xx days left” remaining there to remind me? Why is it there in the first place? If I want extra features, I’d go look for them in About or something! It was like a constant nag telling me that I haven’t taken out the trash or something. I felt let down because I was gonna be charged again like a new customer. Existing customers are charged USD0.01 less for their loyalty? Is that the incentive that we bought this app earlier than new users? I understand that the Apple Dev account alone have costs but I have other apps which do not ask for more money with each new version. At this rate, with version 13, would I have paid USD99.99 already?

Works great

This app works much better then the Mail app on iOS but I wish you could filter by unimportant emails it would make sorting much easier
