Complete waste of money for the device and subscription. Do not waste your money on this, there are other options out there that will actually work.
Now it only shows you what you cannot do without paying a subscription
First of all, I never write reviews but after using Carista for 3 years and witnessing the "updates" which are really huge downgrades I had to. The app is slow, you have to wait for it to connect then again after you select a menu option from there (customize, diagnose, etc.) when it should automatically connect when opening the app to begin with. If you use it without the premium subscription, the features are basic and the paid ones only get you so many which the price point is way too high. The newest update was the biggest mistake ever, you now *have* to use data/wifi to use the app at all. If you need to read/clear a fault code in a bad service area, good luck since you can't use the app. I enjoyed being able to check codes easily even while driving before, but now it's a complete waste.
This works well with my Lexus but costs far too much for occyuse
What more can I say, it does what it says it does.
This is the stupidest friggin app out there! There is no way in hell you can purchase functionality of the app. The ONLY options are purchase the scanner or restore purchases - there is ZERO option available to purchase functionality. What a complete crap app.
I have a 2015 4Runner, options are limited to seatbelt chime on/off, eco mode on/off, and 3 HVAC options. For some reason, no power window control, or any of the other cool features other users have shown possible.
Well, issue has been resolved and I have to say it does work, and works quite well. Used it once during the free month and it seemed to have worked fine. Paid the $70 and it has never - EVER - worked since. So, buyer beware. Once they sucker you into paying $70, it won’t work anymore.
What they don’t tell you when you buy the physical hardware is that a yearly subscription is $67. Not sure why they think that their app is worth that much, when there are many other better and cheaper products out there. For that price you might as well buy OBDeleven, instead of a knockoff version like Carista. Would not recommend, as the scanner is basically useless without paying for the subscription. I’m mostly disappointed in myself, since they tricked me into buying their expensive product. That part was well done.
