Cascable Studio: Tether & More

I downloaded this app to assist me to focus. My eyesight is not what it was. I have a Canon 90D and connected the monitor with a cable. The app opened and was ready for working. However i could not make the small picture any larger or zoom in to help with the focus. Sadly this app is no good to me at all.

This app works really well with the Nikon Z8 and is far more reliable than Nikon’s glitchy SnapBridge offering.

I found this app recently through YouTube and was so impressed I ordered the necessary cables for both my cameras. It works really well but there’s a couple of tweaks I was hoping might be included in an update. The first is a ‘button’ on the live screen view to disconnect the tethering rather than have to find it in one of the menus. The other thing I’ve found a bit annoying is that once tethered, the shutter button on the camera is disabled which means if I want to pick the camera up and operate it manually and just use the larger screen to compose it I can’t ☹️ Not sure if having the cameras shutter button available whilst the live view is active as well is possible but I personally would find it a great bonus. App appears to made well and has a lot of features but that’s as far as I can comment as it doesn’t support Leica cameras, particularly the SL2-S. I can’t imagine it would be difficult given that Panasonic cameras are supported. It’s a shame as this would be really useful on my iPad Pro. If Leica is supported in the future then I will certainly purchase.

I had a pre purchase query and used their support page. I got a prompt and helpful reply. Unfortunately my camera is too old and so cannot be controlled by the app in the ways I need it to. But being able to use this app will be a temptation for me to upgrade to a newer camera. It is also fairly rare for such good support for an app. I hope to be a customer soon and wish them well in the meantime.

Most of the camera specific software is poorly rated on here… because the programs are rubbish or don’t work. This is the opposite: an absolute gem. I know it works brilliantly with my various Canon DSLR’s, but fished out an old Olympus Tg 4 to test prior to doing some diving. The Tg’s are now up to ‘6’ and I thought the 4 wouldn’t be supported. Instead what happened was… the camera WiFi shows a password and a QR code, the iPhone app asked me if I wanted to scan the code, I thought well ‘this isn’t going to work…’ BUT few seconds to connect and I’m in. Sorted all my custom settings and good to go. Love the Tg’s probably buy a 6 now and use ‘in the field’ with phone/pad for no fuss checking of outdoor shoots. Great app.

A simple review here. Download the app and followed the instructions but no matter what you do, just can’t make a connection. New Canon R5 with latest firmware. A shame.

Love this app , connects easy , it seems to have all the features I need for my canon m50 , however the live view is obscured by 143 white squares, I have no idea what it is or how to remove it. Is there a way to get rid of it ? Other than that I really want to buy the pro version and use the intervalometer mode

Maybe it’s me but although it finds my camera via wifi, and Live View opens, it won’t record or recognise the photos on my camera to download to my iPad. Raised a ticket some weeks ago but no response.
