Description

ShutterSnitch is subscription based. With a subscription you get access to all features and updates. The first week is *free* so you can verify that things work with your specific camera or wi-fi card.

Wirelessly transfer images to your iOS device from an Eye-Fi, Transcend Wi-Fi, Toshiba FlashAir, PQI Air, or ez Share card, GoPro HERO, Fujifilm cameras with built-in Wi-Fi, PTP/IP enabled device (such as the Nikon WU / D750 / Z7 or Canon EOS 5D Mark IV / 6D / 70D / M3 / EOS R) or a Canon, Nikon or other filetransmitter that supports uploading to an FTP server over your wireless network.
When a JPEG arrives, ShutterSnitch analyzes shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focal length, and light level and warns you if anything differs from the rules you've set up.

You now have a large preview screen that you can browse, pinch, zoom, and evaluate seconds after snapping your picture.

In a studio environment it's now easy to share shoots with crew and models. More fun and less juggling cards, adapters, and cables!

Please note: A large part of the magic of the wireless delivery lies in the setup of the devices outside of the ShutterSnitch app. For older FTP systems, be prepared to spend more than just a couple of minutes on this initial setup.

Features:

• Works with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.
• Full Retina & Retina HD display support.
• Crop, straighten, and adjust colors in the sRGB color space (temperature & tint, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, blacks, clarity, vibrance, and saturation). All edits are non-destructive, so you can always fine-tune or revert to the original photo.
• Advanced metadata editing with presets and Code Replace.
• Slideshow function with Ken Burns effect.
• Arrange your shoots in albums.
• Lock private albums.
• Resize and/or watermark photos before sharing them via e-mail, Dropbox, Flickr, FTP, Google Drive, SmugMug, WebDAV, or Zenfolio.
• Large scale histograms (RGB,R,G,B).
• Visible and/or audible warnings.
• Map integration. Geo-tag JPEG photos automatically or manually.
• Highlight warnings.
• Add a caption and byline to the photos by tapping and holding the currently displayed full image.
• Custom username, password, and port for the built-in FTP and WebDAV servers.
• Receive files directly from one or more Eye-Fi cards.
• Receive photos from your GoPro HERO, Transcend Wi-Fi, Toshiba FlashAir, PQI Air, or ez Share card/adapter as you shoot them or import files from the card manually. *Note for GoPro cameras in burst or time-laps mode*: Photos can only be retrieved once the camera exits the mode.
• Supports receiving and importing photos via PTP/IP. For example from Nikon WU transmitters, D750 / D850 / Z7 / Z9 and Canon EOS 5D Mark IV / 6D / 70D / M3 / EOS R.
• Supports receiving photos from Panasonic cameras that work with their LUMIX LINK app such as the GH3 and GH4. (Not the 'Image App' or 'LUMIX Sync' apps, so DMC-G7 and DC-G9M2 are not supported.)
• Supports Sony α1, α7 IV, α7R IV, and NEX cameras.
• Supports Fujifilm cameras with built-in Wi-Fi such as X100T, X-M1, GFX100, and X-T2.
• Supports Canon PowerShot G16 and other Canon cameras that work with their CameraWindow app.
• AirDrop export.
• Bonjour support for easy discovery in your Bonjour enabled applications.

ShutterSnitch can also be used as a regular image browser if you simply transfer the pictures from your computer through an FTP client.

Could be great but support is missing

Mike-snapper on

This is typical of developers. Write something good and relax. Google and forum answers and community (code for cheap) support will provide everything. If you have an issue you are either lucky or totally on your own. Even if they take your money there are no answers. Just a typical app developer I guess. Mike

No to subscription

Me69 on

While being a fairly basic app it does what it set out to do well. It has been pretty stable for me using Panasonic and Canon cameras. The confusing marketing images suggests it’s target market, someone who wants to take photos of their kids while at the same time having some more advanced functionality! So far nothing about this app will sway me from Cascable or CamRanger2 which I use in a professional capacity as they are far more capable than ShutterSnitch. Both of the forementioned apps are also able to be purchased which is my preferred option. In summary a purchasable more feature rich app with live view, bracketing etc would be a very welcomed improvement to this app.

How do I get support

David Smith UK on

I purchased and used ShutterSnitch quite happily with my eyefi card and canon 5Dmkiii for a number of years. I have re-subscribed to test it out with my Sony A1 but when trying to obtain support via the forum or clicking on the support link I am told my IP address is permanently banned, I have no idea why, and no way to contact support. Hence this review. How can I get around this without resorting to a vpn, and why is my IP banned on the site ?

Good app - could be excellent with basic additions

bladexrunner on

As a long term user of the app I am frustrated in having to leave the app to perform two essential editing functions. Burn and dodge and bespoke image resize and res. Would give it five star if they were included. Negates the whole purpose of sending out photographs quickly if you have to open other apps to do the basics!

Some issues attempting to connect to Canon M5 to the app and use it to view photos on the fly

I paid for batch export on

I’ve been trying to connect my Canon M5 to this app for about two hours and I can’t for the life of me get it to work I also can’t find any support please help

Great app!!

altopix on

I’ve used it for a couple of years now and it’s an integral part of my workflow. I caption and update IPTC data then FTP to various outlets. I use the code replacements for my sports pix so I can send quicker and I use my iPad full time now. The developer also takes on board improvement suggestions, adding them if possible or giving the reason why they can’t be.

Pros and cons

Lambsporriegetta on

Hands down the best tethered shooting manager with powerful asset management features. But!!! Because we shoot our raw files to adjust and blend for final output the raw image editing is amongst the worst on the App Store. So to me this feature is of no benefit. What I would really like to see next is wired tethering. Then improve the editor. Then no doubt it’ll be a Capture One killer for location shooting.

Still one of the best apps on IOS

LongTimeShutterSnitchUser on

Been using this app since it was first created and is still one of my go to apps for photography. Not only is it great for sorting and storing image collections but sending them to other locations (using the built in FTP server), but new features get added frequently.

Could be so much more.

Kramrenraw on

This so could be the best app for a press photographer. However the fact that it isn’t is down to poor interface and workflow....and leaving out such obvious items as ftp...Ing more than one image at a time. You can just see in your minds eye the workflow needed as a busy press photographer ...it’s right there but snatched but away from you by the app’s. inability to understand the “press” operation...shoot,review,caption,resize and send ! .... It’s not that hard. I still use this but I have to use a basic editing app ...( no levels or sharpening in the paid for editing extras) and an ftp app. I have to leave each app and reopen the new apps...it’s what we in the U.K. call a “dogs dinner” ...a mess. So to ask for subscription too.....!! Pardon me laughing down my sleeve..... on a positive note the click and caption ( called “ description” seems to work well. ....why can’t the rest of it. You could clean up guys cos no one does all this simple stuff in one app...unbelievably.

Was great but no longer buy standalone features

Fartleks on

Great app - not sure about the subscription model at the moment. Time will tell what killer features are in the pipeline.
