Castro Podcast Player

Castro works a bit differently than other players. The unique concept works perfectly! You decide what happens with new episodes: - Put in inbox (not downloaded) - Play next (top of queue) - Play last (end of queue) So, podcast play in the order you prefer. But if needed it’s still easy to rearrange your queue. Give it a try and support it with a subscription.

I like the way it present me with clean UI and comfy UX. Whereas other Podcast apps seemed cluttered and ‘noisy’. The only thing that made me had to abandoned the native Podcast app simply because it doesnt gave me the option Starred or Bookmarked chosen Episode; It just throw away everything into the Library alongside queues and latest Episodes, which makes it an awful mess. This app however, gave me that option and also the ability to manage Episodes such as the “Inbox” section where i could review whether i wanted to listen to the Episodes or not, so it wont messed up my “Queue” section that is also provided by the app. And all that presented ‘within grasp’ without having to go through menus and/or sub-menus, which makes it absolutely tidy !. I can even define which Podcasters to have their Episode automatically added to my Inbox or my Queue (or not both) whenever there is a new one. There are some features request to makes it perfect(at least for me)... 1. Needs an iOS 14 Widgets. Small one (square) —most preferably— just like Apple’s Podcast app. Also.. 2. Like the other one said, it needs an iPad version. I listen to Podcast a lot.. and when my iPhone needs to be charged, i use my iPad to continue where i left off. Yes, it can be installed to the iPad in its current state, and all the functionality working just fine at that too, but the small sized UI makes it look very weird. Castro is so much unlike any other podcast app. It completely clicks with my brain in its methodology to triage podcasts in an Inbox/Queue format. It’s design is clean, well thought out, and intuitive in every way. I have been a subscriber for years with no plans to stop! I could not be any more happy that this app is getting the love and care it deserves with frequent updates and improvements! Thanks and keep it up!

I am so glad that Castro works again because it really is the best podcast player with the most intuitive design. Thank you for fixing it. I used to love Castro because the functionality and user interface allows me to keep my podcasts organized easily. Now it just doesn’t work. Boo.

I am a paid user. The app is losing functionality as time goes on. 503 errors are becoming more common, and now it’s not updating podcasts anymore. It used to place NPR News Now when a new one would come out at the top of my inbox. I now have to go the the NPR News Now page and manually refresh for it to fetch the latest podcast. Seriously considering cancelling my membership and moving to overcast or something because this app has been getting steadily worse over the past year.

New user to the app for almost a month and have been enjoying the free functionality more than my prior paid app. I like to check in to different podcasts episodes for specific topics and being able to be subscribed to them to see new episodes without all the new episodes filling my queue was a huge issue for me before that Castro easily tackles. Heard about Castro through my Newsworthy podcast and happy so far.
