My review used to be 5/5 as I used the app daily but given I mostly listen to sideloads now and I can’t see what the thumbnail/album art is for the podcast, it’s pretty grating. The cloud folder is useful though I just cancelled my account. The app seems to be dead anyways

If you have been scrolling through a long list of podcast apps wondering which one to download reading reviews etc. STOP. You have found the best one, download it you won’t be disappointed.
TLDR: capable podcast app marred by awful "discovery" feature, haphazard sideloading feature and high annual subscription. Should you get it? If you're okay paying top price for, and are likely to be happy with, a "Discovery" feed which, by default, includes"promoted content" and which recommends podcasts in the vein of Vice Media and Buzzfeed's editorial leanings then go for it. On the other hand maybe you want something as full featured but about half the price and something which offers discovery which doesn't look as if it's curated by an intern at Vice, then you should go for Overcast. I want to be fair. Yes Discovery is totally botched unless you have a very narrow outlook on the world which matches that of the app creators. Otherwise the App is good. It's voice boosting feature is good too and from an appearance standpoint it is easy on the eye. However at €18PA I expect the app to offer a no compromises premium experience but the discovery section is so badly botched that it really destroys the experience unless you enjoy being narrowcasted at by the app creators. In short they need to ditch the urge to editorialise at their customers and instead facilitate them, all of them. In terms of technical flaws there are not many. It's fundamentally well made with one notable, and impossible to overlook, problem: the sideloading feature is hit and miss. Some days it works perfectly and other days, even using a source which previously worked perfectly, Sideload to Castro is simply missing from the share sheet. This needs to be fixed or scrapped. If this app were more affordable I'd rate it higher but at this price point I don't want to encounter this level of friction in an app.
This app revolutionised my podcasting experience. The queueing view is intuitive and the settings are comprehensive and easy to change. Works like a dream and keeps updating with new features.
Love this app. Fantastic way to manage my podcasts. The top picks feature is great.
If podcasts are important to you, as they are to me, get this app and make managing them easy. It’s excellent.
