CBC News Reviews

Lately I have been having issues with the app loading. When I tap on an article to read, it takes an abnormally long time to load. The text place holders and image place holders stay grey with a left to right scrolling “animation” for lack of a better term. This has been going on for sometime now.

The new ads are really annoying

the-real-canadian on

Canada

I love the CBC but have deleted the app and switched to the website because of the incredibly intrusive ads. In the most recent updates there are now 15-30 second unskippable ads in-between text stories. This app is rapidly devolving into a free to play game with the level of ads it makes you view. Want to watch a video? 2x 15-30 second ads Want to read an article? You get an ad that you can’t skip for 30 seconds. Seriously CBC what has happened to you? Used to be one of the best news apps on the App Store and now it’s no better than the free to play garbage.

Impossible to close ads

Mno22 on

Canada

I love the CBC, but this app pushes ads that I sit patiently through only to be left unable to exit because the ‘X’ in the top right corner of my screen is behind the WIFI and battery icons. No amount of tapping works. I’ve literally had to reboot my phone to get past this frustrating barrier. Do better.

App is great

But every morning all the top hits in my feed are Trump or US politics. If I want US news I’ll install a US app. For now I’m uninstalling CBC Trump nerwork.

Long time to load selected story

Tankgirl72 on

Canada

After clicking on a particular story of interest it takes about 10-15 seconds to load. It’s a bit annoying to say the least.

Too many videos

gamirault on

Canada

I am getting tired of having to view articles in video format instead of being able to read them. It takes much longer to click on a video, watch multiple ads, and then listen to the story. Please allow us to have a choice.

Fix your app

reviewedbyjustin on

Canada

It’s 2024 and you’re Canada’s biggest and most important news agency. How do you have an app that doesn’t work? I receive a notification for a story I’m interested, I click it, it takes me to your app but not only is the article I clicked on not there, it’s nowhere to be found. Who designed this app for you? Who built it? Who is maintaining it? You’re paying them all too much for what you’re getting. It’s so painful to use.

Defund the CBC

AD05 on

Canada

10 Islamist middle eastern men beat up two queer women and no mention of this attack as the police blamed the two women. Where is your article and the follow up on the investigation?! I was a huge supporter of cbc but no more.

Popup Spam that wont go away

Phalkon25 on

Canada

Why does the close option not exist for your pop up ads? Uni of fredricton popup spam needed me to delete app to get rid of it. Normal just closing it but this time it would not go away.

Bande annonce au 4 nouvelles

ComputerFirstAid on

Canada

Une bande annonce se montre à toute les quatre annonces et pour être encore pire c’est toujours la même bande annonce. C’est la seule application de nouvelles qui fait ça. Il on vraiment peur que l’ont ne vois pas leur annonce. Très dérangeant.
