Description

ChatSecure is a free and open source messaging app that features OTR and OMEMO encryption over XMPP. You can create new accounts on public XMPP servers, or even connect to your own server for extra security.

Unlike other apps that keep you stuck in their walled garden, ChatSecure is fully interoperable with other clients that support OTR, OMEMO and XMPP.

ChatSecure only uses well-known open source cryptographic libraries to keep your conversations private. Other apps may make claims about 'military grade' security but, without publicly auditable source code and verifiable end-to-end encryption, you cannot be truly safe.

Great app, few weird things

The app generally is fantastic to use, the only issue I have is that it doesn’t handle certificate changes very well and you need to manually accept it (which is a Pain for let’s encrypt 3 month refreshes). Other than that it’s a great app.

Great addition to your privacy toolkit

ChatSecure is easy to configure and use. It offers another layer of security to a commodity that is becoming rarer nowadays - privacy.

No Openfire

Does not allow me to sign into my Openfire account. Previously using IM+ and other chat program with no issue. Is it possible for future builds to allow Voice/Video support for those who allow OTR plugins on Openfire XMPP like RedFire. :D - good rating even with no luck on sign in.

Reliable chat app.

I've been using chatsecure for a few months now. It's simple, no-frills and reliable. Just what I was after.
