Chordjam is an innovative MIDI plugin that builds chords and progression patterns through intuitive user-guided randomization.
Choose from a variety of scale types, Chord types, voicing parameters, rhythms and progressions or have its powerful sequencer conjure up unlimited progression patterns for you, based on any combination of settings, serving up unpredictable but always-musical variations.
Create unique and complex chord structures and infinitely evolving progressions.
Chordjam now supports MPE technology (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) to deliver polyphonic portamento/gliding chords which allows you to bend from any chord to any chord, both in real-time chord triggering or using the sequencer’s progression patterns.
Chordjam is the ultimate real-time compositional assistant for iPad. Designed to feed any Synth, Sampler and anything that accepts MIDI signal both software and hardware.
Featuring MIDI output support over WiFi or MIDI cable.
Chordjam also supports Ableton Link for tight sync between apps on the same network.

Chordjam FAQ
Is Chordjam free?
Yes, Chordjam is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Chordjam legit?
🤔 The Chordjam app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I got this app for the second time, initially having asked for a refund due to various issues, as part of a bundle. Much better experience this time around, and the app will be useful. I just wish the devs would redesign this - and their other - interfaces to something more useable. I am fortunate to see well and not need glasses, but anyone who has problem peepers will find the tiny controls awakward.
I think this is great
I like what this throws out and shows me. It’s a good learning tool and with some nice fx’d up auv3s on the prowl it can produce some fantastic accompaniments. Some of the criticism regarding the layout is understandable and I would add a note to the developers that a lot of people me included can’t be bothered to watch a video just to understand how to use something , we just want to use it and for it to be easy to get into.
Some designs understand this others in that very tech way seem to delight in going out of their way in almost saying this is only for people with a tech mind kind of deal…. I think halfway harry is good tbh. Great app and I love and have all your apps too, please keep going on this vibe.
Very hard to use
Controls are very small and have cryptic symbols on them with no explanation of what they mean. Because of how small everything is, you have to tap five times on anything to get at least a single tap registered.
There goes the weekend…
Bought this after being impressed by the (free!) Filterstep. Great loss leader you have there guys. Reasonably priced, sounds good, and will help my shaky music theory. Will take some time to learn to get the best out of it. But that’s not really a downside.
Much and so much potential
The first iteration of this app is a step up from anything in the IOS environment at the time of writing . It’s refreshing .The algorithms within the app facilitate coherent musical harmony and progression of ideas and invite exploration and so facilitate creativity, 1000% recommended ....you acutely need this if your music theory is 0 or weak 🙏🙏🏿👏👍🎩🦄. This was what I was missing... though I didn’t know that until the moment I saw it. This fits right into my music and creative passions concept of always keeping it in the moment... a bit of random enhances the fun 😉😎 Well done, devs 👏🏽
Looses sync, looses sound, Randomizer work sometimes
Love your apps. This app has issues. Feel bad asking for a refund, but this is unusable. I’ll email you guys a video of the issue.
Mixes sharps and flats
I’m just now getting into it and didn’t want to give it a bad review. But did want to say that the key of C minor does not have a D# or G# in it, as this app seems to think. It has an Eb and an Ab. B# minor has a D# and a G# in it. I find this pretty annoying, kind of a speed bump, like misspelled words or bad grammar in prose. It can’t be a big deal to make the few flat keys and sharp keys display correctly. I wonder how confusing this could be for beginning musicians.
Free update
OMG! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Unbelievably cool free update. A real game changer for this tool.
Unable to change the sound
I thought this would be a cool way to write new songs and come up with new ideas. However, when I plug in my keyboard and play, I can’t change the tone of the sound at all. I’m stuck with this electronic sound that’s built into the app.
I wish that I could just hear the chords with a nice grand piano tone or something like that.
Other than that, I’m also frustrated that there are hardly any resources online that educate on how to use this app. I found one video on YouTube, but it was an hour long and the guy seemed hard to understand. I wish there was some sort of help for this app.
I’m a little bummed that I paid for it to be honest. I really wish I could change the sound.
