How much does Darkroom cost?
Darkroom has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is 162.00 kr.
Kinda like the software. Would love for it to be able to work on files, and not just the gallery, especially on Mac, but on iPad too.
However, it is sooo buggy.
- Constant crashes
- Import ends up hanging, doing weird stuff
- After a Save, the image forgets about the crop
- Sometimes it edits something other than what I have selected.
Powerful but crashing frequently
Darkroom is hands down the most convenient photo editing app I ever used. The addition of community filters made it even better. However, the app crashes frequently on both my iPhone and iPad whenever I import high resolution photos from my cameras. It needs to be better optimized to be on par with the more popular apps, otherwise it's not really worth the subscription price.
The only app you need
So easy, so many features. Whenever I download another editing app, I forget and go straight to Darkroom. A favourite for years. Just delete the other editing apps on your phone.
Freezes - useless!
Latest iOS, iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Spend time editing a photo and click Done. And nothing!?! Freezes.
Loose all your editing work.
Stay away!
Was nice
Was nice, but somewhere down the line they went with “we don’t sell, we rent our software out”, so time to look for new photo editor.
Can one edit GPR files?
Looks great but can one edit GPR files in your app?
No left handed mode
Southpaws beware. Impossible to use with the Apple Pencil, you will constantly have your arm covering the screen. Do not recommend until left handed mode has been added
Some great stuff and some UI issues
The app is fairly intuitive. Just be aware of the whole “can only edit raw if it has not been modified elsewhere” issue - but that is an Apple thing, nothing to do with Darkroom.
Darkroom does not show the albums the same way as the Photos app, which is annoying. I have thousands of photos in a good folder and album structure, but Darkroom does not show folders, only the albums...
It crashes on occasion.
It fails to save edits on occasion.
But the biggest issue is how long it takes to open up camera imported RAWs. Going through and editing a days worth of RAWs eg on a vacation takes waaaaay to long because you have to wait for each individual photo to open. That means I only use this for the really good photos, but then it starts to compete with Affinity Photo for that use case, and Darkroom cannot even touch AF...
Great app
I love using Darkroom editing my Raw photos. The app is intuitive to use and it is really easy to get good results. The only thing I would like added is noise reduction.
