Good & User Friendly but still slow & Glitchy
I want to love this app but for all the good things it does and there is a lot to like about this app. Really powerful controls, seamlessly integrated with Apple photos, ability to colour grade both photos and videos in one app, I love all of that.
However even after two years of use and paying a subscription, the app still has this Glitchy behaviour of freezing, not loading content, slow loading content etc..
Then today it took 45mins to render a 75 second video, seriously, that’s poor.
I don’t have that time spare, it then obviously drains the battery doing this. I have a relatively powerful phone iPhone 13 Pro Max so it’s not the hardware.
I think I’m going to have to look at alternatives at this stage.
It’s a shame they don’t focus all their efforts fixing the functionality and fundamentals of the basic running of the app, before bring us more features that most don’t really care for..
I want a stable and reliable app as a priority.

Very Good but not perfect
I really like this App and has huge potential.
The fact it can edit video as well as Photos is Huge.
The way it syncs so well with iOS is fantastic.
The UI is brilliant.
The Natch editing is great too, However this is where I have an issue and knocked a ⭐️off.
Whenever I edit a picture, add in a small BLACK border , when I export in Batch mode, the borders always come out white.
The only work around is to literally export one at a time, which defies the whole point of Batch edit.
If that was fixed then I think it would be worth it.
Currently though €75 to buy out right, or €5 a month is a little steep too.
Amazing, powerful, intuitive.
Great app, even greater update! Love the masking features. Game changer for someone like me who has never use Adobe products.
The best in phone photo editing app
When I was a kid working in a darkroom in my school, I remember the joy of processing black and white images, working with exposures, etc. I remember the wonder of taking black and white images with different filters and seeing the extraordinary effect this could have on the contrast and tone of the final image. It’s a feeling I’d lost until I found this app.
It’s not an absolute replacement for the darkroom (you can’t burn and dodge in parts of the image) but since I watched a Sean Tucker video talking about it’s merits, I’ve found it is the ONLY app I now use to edit my images. I love it. The global control of the image is super and the tap to view the original (which I know is not unique to Darkroom) is a lovely feature. I love the borders, the individual colour controls, the straightening, vignette tools, sharpening. It’s everything I could want and need to make my photos better. I am taking better photos because I know I am looking forward to “processing” them again. I don’t know what more you could ask for of an app.
If I could suggest a feature, it would be nice to be able to tap and hold each individual colour filter, to see the before and after effect on the image of just that colour. But it’s not the end of the world not having it.
I love this app more than any other tool in my photography arsenal. I can not recommend it highly enough.
Disappointed
The only reason I considered this app was the fact of curves which was advertised. Surprise! You have to buy them. If I could have had some chance to try them I probably would have bought the full app. However, deleted
