Elite HRV (EHR) has major faults
1: EHR is not repeatable. When repeating the test, after deleting the first reading, I often get a completely different result. For instance : 3/10 on the parasympathetic side followed by 10/10 followed by 3/10 on the sympathetic side. A reliable test should give consistent results. 2: EHR often does not detect artifacts or when it detects them it does not correct them. The artifacts can clearly be seen on the heart rate recorder trace as spikes. Failure to correct them , when present, results in high RMSSD results which in turn leads to the random results when the test is repeated. 3: The artifacts are premature ventricular contractions (PVCs), confirmed by ECG recordings run simultaneously with the EHR. They are quite common especially in older people. I have discussed these with my cardiologist and they are considered benign and of no concern. HRV should correct them. 4: The Kubios app for hrv does correct for PVCs and gives repeatable results. When run repeatedly and simultaneously with HRV it gives consistent results while the HRV results vary widely. 5: Even when there are no artifacts the HRV results are questionable. I recently had a very bad night with a bad cold , no sleep, two sprained muscles and a resting heart of 60 bpm in stead of the normal 45 bom and HRV gave me 9/10!!! The Kubios app gave a result 24%. There were no artifacts in this test.
